You can still buy them.
Alon discontinued using them when DIYers starting copying his Mini. They were designed in Italy, are now manufactured in China, thus they should be more affordable but alas they are more expensive than ever. Not much wonder why the original company fell through.
They were $599 half a decade ago, and are further more vastly overpriced in 2012 at $768 USD each from China via the Ying Tai Trading Co. The 14W2608AG-Ti is now $599USD. The 18W5408AG-Ti offers better bass reproduction than the 18W4004AG-Ti model in the Magico Mini. THD resides about 45dB below reference level, merely average for a $50 woofer, if not rather embarrassing for a $768 one.

I'm too lazy to check the spelling on the names right now but I once found the company that made the ATD drivers (Audio Transducer Designs if I remember corrrectly) called Cappricio Continuo (not sure on spelling).
Anyway, if you find their web site, they might answer your questions. They answered questions I had on the Veravox drivers they also made. (No word yet on if or when they'll launch another production run of Veravox drivers.)

That was the original company I wrote of, known as ATD. Cappricio Continuo was a separate portion of the company that designed complete speakers for sale on the audiophile market. They are now made in China, the CC site is in need of maintenance as their own links are broken. info@capricciocontinuo.com
