ATD Veravox7 - In search for design ideas

Hi Everyone,
I have a couple of old ATD Veravox 7, a pretty strange extended-range driver:

Qts: 0.57
Fs: 85Hz
Mms: 4.3g
Xmax: 2.5mm

wich kind of enclosure would be better suited for such a *nice* 🙁 Qt and limited Xmax ?
my first thought was: a closed-box or a short [mass loaded] transmission line, but I am still in doubt ..

Any suggestions?

Open baffle? With a mid Q, high Fs & limited Xmax? Er, not a combination I'd automatically advise, if you'll forgive my pointing it out.

That said, there isn't enough information there to design a box for them, so OB with a supporting woofer might be the best bet.

Open baffle, imho, is a complex option with a 2.5mm max displacement.
Besides this, I have no info about the Max Input Level for the driver in the frequency domain, but taking into account that the voice coil dia is 25mm, and the whole moving mass is just above 4g for sure it's not very powerful.

And yes, it's even true that the design info is close to nothing (my fault) ..
I have a dimensional constrain: the baffle should be smaller than 300mm (width) and the complete enclosure should be not taller than 1.3m. Furthermore - it's not a constrain but just a wish - it would be very nice to build a quasi full-range: Veravox7 from 120-150Hz and a woofer for the lower octaves (and choosing it is not trivial, but it's a different issue)

OB is a VERY fascinating solution, but I imagine it is not applicable in this case, unless to use the Veravox from 300-400Hz - Linkwitz transform with that driver is out of discussion.
Even in this scenario, a single woofer able to cover the 50-300Hz range is not a trivial choice!

I never tried RJ, nor aperiodic ..

IMO depending on baffle size u can get down to 200hz with these.
2.5mm xmax shouldnt be an issue either. But not single driver, you will need bass reinforcement.

The best thing about OB is that if you dont like it, you can still add the other cabinet walls 😉

I'm about on your same boat because of narrow baffles, i'll need a good woofer to cover 30-200hz (equalized), maybe even a little higher. This means a fast, and high-quality driver of 12" ideally (for me).

Look into Volt and Beyma offerings.

I have some of the 7x's sitting right now, but tried them open baffle and thought they sounded superb. I tried a lot of drivers on the same baffles (a good 20" wide), from fostex, smaller lowthers, etc. Great drivers, need to get mine up and running again.

Anyway, due to space, I am thinking of a larger monitor, but have yet to put pencil to paper on it. Enjoy! I was pretty amazed with mine.

One more thing, I did cross them to a sub, around 80 hz, I think. (could be off on that) Just let the driver run and it mated quite well.
