I can't se that "waveguide" as a waveguide for a midrange really! If ATC R&D engineers are clever, it might counter-attack the dome resonance... Perhaps the major benefit is to alleviate time alignment by retracting the dome a little?
It woul be interesting if someome could run polar measurements of ATC 75 without the frame.
Zaph's polars of ATC SM75 are nice, but hickup at 4,5kHz could be the "waveguide"?
