Hi,

Need assistance to identify a Sumida part (L101) on the motherboard of a Luxman T-240 tuner. And if anyone knows of a substitue for it.

The item is black rectangle with two hex key nuts for adjustment on the top. Think it needs to be replace on my friends tuner as it did not sound good until I discovered one of the hex nuts seem to be loose (in some manner). When I touched the hex nut with my finger, sound on the tuner either goes silent or sound terrible. Touching it again, sound can be great! Hence as a temporary fix, I managed to glue it into position. Sounds acceptable at the moment but would be preferrable if the Sumida part can be replaced.

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

If there are two of them (one for R, one for L channels), that must be a FM multiplex filter. TOKO used to produce such filters (and AFAIK Sumida is TOKO). If there is only one, it could be the FM discriminator. If the ferrite core is not broken, you don't need to replace the whole part. Adjust the loose core for clean sound and maximum audio output. Do not touch the other core. Better alignment can be achived with instruments.
