I have an aspherical condensor with an extreamly short FL of 45mm. Using the calculations found on the fourm, if I use this lense my bulbs arc nees to be ~3/4" of an inch away from the condensor. But I since my asphererical condensor has two "proturding arches" on each face, I don't know if that 3/4" of an inch is from the:
(1) top of the condensor
(2) middle of the condensor
(3) bottom of the bottom "arch" of the condensor
See picture to help understand what I'm trying to say.
also It's going to be about 3/8" from the outside of the glass of my 575w HMI bulb. Not knowing what type of material the condensor is made, do you think it's going to take the heat with good ventilation?

well I was just playing around with a flashlight with the head removed so I could have a point light source. Apparently my calculations were off or the formula I used was wrong, becuase I have to touch the bulb to the lense in order to get the size circle I need.
