There are 3 ways of doing this. I will go through each.
1) Just project it on the screen, with black borders above and below the screen (depending on the lcd u shouldnt be able to see the black borders, one of the advantages of single lcd systems)
2) Buy a 16:9 lcd. But this is very expensive. Better off buying a projector.
3) Build an anamorphic lens. Look for the thread on this.

Btw, please search the forum and research a little before posting new threads. We aren't being rude, but it gets very tedious when people ask about something when the answer is easily found. Don't worry about it much though, many people do this, just search next time. People on this forum are quite willing to provide help not only to each other but to newbies, but they are not so willing to answer the reanswered. Good luck.

thanks for replying. I will search more in the future as many will have noticed from my previous posts, i ask 'silly' questions. the problem is when a search and read the posts, i come across new technical words and become more confused. but it's been great help and i appreciate it.

If you post your questions about the topics that confuse you ...IN the thread that you found the confusing material... you stand a better chance of getting a reply from the folks that created/participated in gathering the data.

4) build something called a "matte". Basically, you just literally cover the top and bottom of your 3:4 LCD, thus giving you a 16:9 projected image. You can build something nice, or just use some old VHS cases or something.
