Having not read everything, I think I'm going to agree with Dan on this. Not all XBL^2 drivers are the same, you can do it well and you can do it improperly, just like other motor topologies. I'm not saying Ascendent's are worse, but not all XBL^2 drivers are created equal.
It is true that not all XBL2 plates and yokes are the same.
I have seen clones of there motors and they have long excursion but do not have the linear BL.
I think the fees must be high for the use or there is some kind of internal ding dong going on
I still think Acendant have some very nice woofers and there not some kind of poor mans woofer not by a long shot.
Its time for all your students to get some good woofers while the goings good 😀

hmmm... I believe all the Ascendent drivers were built at Destijl in Vegas as have many Adire drivers. But I don't think any Ascendent drivers went through the hands of any Adire people. As Dan has stated, they had little to nothing to do with Ascendent and Destijl subliscensed the XBL^2 tech to them.

Well, then their build house is in Las Vegas, because that’s where my Avalanche 18" came from. I think it's safer to say that both Adire and Ascendant use an outboard or third party build house to make their drivers, and if they happen to be the same build house then fine. They both make fine drivers, I have some from both and have had very pleasing results with both.

Destijl is based is Las Vegas, if I remember correctly.

Ascendant licensed the technology from a build house in USA who had licensed the technology from Adire.
Adire Audio is not manufacturing Ascendant Audio drivers, maybe they are using (or have used we should say now) the same build house.
Adire is mostly using build houses in Chile now, not much is done in USA.
Ascendant Audio is building everything in USA.
The owner of Adire Audio himself (Mr. Dan Wiggins) stated that he wasn't aware of Ascendant Audio before the website was live.
The owner of Ascendant Audio did a custom design with the XBL^2 technology, he designed the motor structure and everything else. Why you're saying that it's impossible for him to beat Adire Audio by using the same technology? We don't know, we would need measurements to compare them.
You're right that because Adire Audio invented the technology they have the advantage, but they are not invincible. They make good drivers too, that's an evidence.
