ARTOGRAPH PROJECTORS partII

Alot of people think that an opaque projector wont work but i know someone who had one and it worked. It was a 100 watt model and it was dim but it worked, he made a mistake by puttin a 200 watt bulb in a 100 watt model BUT it work fine and CLEARER....the bad thing is he cooked his lcd. the point is it WORKED! and it projected at a maximum image of 70X70 inches and this is the low level "TRACER" model. the higher model "DESIGNMASTER" has 250 watts and can project a larger and clearer area. but the bulbs are rated to be 25/50 hrs bulbs are 4$ STILL less than any OHP. People think that this wont work, but i think it will....or maybe im just a dreamer:angel: well i dont know, but im STILL going to look for an alternative to bulky OHPs. artograph are opaque yes i understand that, and LCD are reflective/transparent. if an artograph can project a LIGHTLESS picture to 2500% larger and reduce them by 3x and + why cant it project an LCD with light(backlight) im not talking about a PROJECTION panel im talkin about small LCD mudules. THEORETiCALLY it SHOULD work. since some LCDs are transparent the light from the artograph will pass throught it...but how about if a mirror if put under the LCD? there were people who wanted to do this project but i dont them here any more. i only have two people who have tried this. well if you are open minded and willing to experiment or have any thoughts on this project feel free to reply.

I admit I am intrigued by this hole opaque projector thing, but the only thing that is holding me back is the 6 x 6 or 7x 7 viewing capacity for the lcds, I don't think that there are any high quality lcds that will work with these, and the only 5 or 6 inch lcds i have seen will create a screen door effect when enlarged

screen door affect? im VERY close to buying an opaque projector but the bulb lives are keeping me back, if only i can change the bulb base and use longer bulbs. i believe these opaques have GREAT potential, we just need some more people that are into it.

screen door effect= when you enlarge a low quality lcd that doesn't have a very high resolution (ie; a 5 inch lcd) you can see the individual pixels sort of like the screen in a screen door, also like the older projection tvs people used to have you could see the pixels.

Need Help on Reflective Projector (Artograph)

Is there anybody out there with an Artograph project? If so please reply me. I started this project with a great hope that I will definitely have a big screen TV in my family room ( I even bought the pop corn) but when I put my lcd TV on the artographer I was shocked. All I could see was a black screen as the glare from the light overshadowed the lcd screen. Isn't that amaizing? If it can project a picture so beautifully why can't it project the lcd screen which is brighter than the photo. Has anyone tried this or had any success? If you have any success please send me some clue or I will drop the idea of DIY projector and will keep on watching my 84 cm Grundig TV. In a fortnight I have tried almost everything - Fresnel 100" TV (crap), Slide projector idea, Opaque projector theory - nothing is working for me to my saticfaction. I believe strongly that this kind of reflective projector is the best idea (only if someone can get this working). OK let me put it this way - I will sign in today - are you with me?

Please send me any information that might help in this regard. I will be posting more info as I go.

Never give up and beleive in yourself - we will do it.

The problem is in the glare. The standard surface of an LCD screen is such that when the light hits it it does not reflect the image, it just produces glare on the screen. Maybe someone could try it with a GBA screen? They are, after all, reflective LCD's... I think if you popped the protective plastic off it might have a chance.

Artograper DIY projector

What is GBA? I am thinking of using an anti glare spray on the lcd screen. Not too sure how this will react with the lcd. I have to try it on a different surface (may be an unuseble lcd screen) first. If this does not work I don't know what to do. I wish someone had told me solution for this. Hey anybody out there knows the trick?

Thanks for GBA info. I have looked at some information about this on the net. How do I get the video siglanl or TV onto a GBA screen? Mostly these screens are of 640X480 res. I don't think its enough for good projection. However for expriments sake this would be enough. But I am not sure the GBA has video input on it. Has enyone heard of a TV with reflective lcd screen? Please let me know.

This artograph was a waste of money for me. I can't get a clue to get this working. I might switch to a slide projector theory. I have an old pocket lcd TV and I will take the lcd out of it and remove the backlight. The only problem is the heat. I did not get any information about a TV with a reflective screen although I have not tried the Artographer setup with a mirror behind the LCD. But I don't think this will work. Does anyone know how to get this working?

another point.......new or not.....i still think a decent source for a smaller lcd screen with inputs pre-attached are the portable monitors for the PS1......most of those small tv's don't seem to have the inputs needed for most regular people who don't have the knowledge to cut and solder wires.......anywho....if this is all olds knowledge just ignore me.......i do :xeye:

well its best to go with LCD and OHP 1st then then work your way up.Most people start with the 100" Tv plans and move up including me..I made my own box and even painted it metalic silver for brightness and some part black fro contrast...it all equalled to crap..lol

I moved up to Artograph and 5" LCD then returned it luckily they accepted the products back lol
Then I got an LCD OHP setup for about 4-6 months moved to LCD monitor...broke it moved to LCd projector sold it THEN movies to a CRT projector....sold that one too lol and now I have a better CRT and working on that for now 🙂

Good luck lowjacker ...try not to get "jacked" on ebay 😀
