Arrow

Anyone else had any issues with Arrow?

I was having quite good luck with them for a while but...

I ordered 16 caps on June 7th. They figured they would ship on the 11th and I'd have them by the 15th.

They still haven't shipped them.

Four times I've contacted support through chat. Four times I got the same "I'll make sure the warehouse expedites your order"

The last time I asked to cancel it since it hadn't shipped. The chat person said they couldn't do that.

I then tried to call them on the phone. The first time the automated system said it couldn't take my call and to call later.

The second time I got to hold for someone for someone for 25 minutes only to have it ring through to a silent line which I hung up on 5 minutes later after saying "Hello? Is someone there?" a few times.

I've now opened a dispute with Paypal. Let's see if that get's there attention.

Anyone else have any stories to share about bad purchase experiences? I've never had this much of a hassle with any other place. That includes sellers on eBay and Aliexpress.

I ordered 4 times before that without a hitch. It's just surprising how poor their customer service seems to be. When I call Digi-key I get a human after like 1 button press. I've never been on hold to speak to someone there. I've never had to contact Mouser support - they've never shipped the wrong item or short shipped.

They're too large to worry about your stinking order.

LCSC has more customers.
You joking?
You are comparing a guy selling Coca Cola cans out of a styrofoam cooler to Coca Cola Corporation itself.
LCSC has over 900,000 customers
means 900000 *people* like you and me; Arrow´s
Customers Worldwide: over 180,000
are Distributors, Shops and Industries.
Just compare employees: Arrow´s 19600 to LCSS 310.
Or LCSC single shop in Shenzhen to Arrow´s 302 Worldwide.

You ordered from *one* single seller from the HUGE Arrow organization.

Arrow Fu**ed me over... LCSC didn't. Nor did Digikey, Mouser, Tayda, GD-Parts, Electrosonic, etc. I order it, I get it. Every. Single. Time.

Say whatever you want about "Distributors, shops, and Industries". Arrow has garbage customer service. It's abhorrent. A good price isn't worth anything if I have to order the parts elsewhere to satisfy the client in a timely fashion.

Would you really accept this kind of horses**t delay for your own customers, Mr Fahey?
https://www.arrow.com is just one of many little distributors in the Arrow network? Come on...

Mouser specializes is small customer orders. I've only had two hiccups dealing with Mouser. Once my order didn't arrive, but FedEx showed it did arrive. No problem. Mouser just shipped it again, at their expense. They even upgraded me to second day air, all on their dime. After this I always ordered from Mouser, as long as they had my stuff in stock.

The second time it took them a few days to ship and it took FedEx almost two weeks to deliver my order. Usually I get my order in less than 48 hours. This was during the height of the pandemic. I just ordered again and it came in less than 48 hours like it always did before.

Our orders probably look silly next to industrial orders. I order 25 of these resistors, 100 of this capacitor, 10 of these op amps, etc. Sometimes I might order only 1 or 2 of a certain item. This is more legwork for less profit for them. So I appreciate that they provide service to small batch builders like me.

Mouser does charge more for resistors in 100 piece lots than they do on a full reel. Not every industrial customer buys everything in production quantity. At work our labs often buy stuff from Mouser in smaller quantities than *I* do. They have to justify every penny spent *right now*, I tend to look at what I’ll use over 10 years. I keep selected values on hand in hundreds, and design those in to everything, rather than keeping more values in onsey twoseys. Same for caps and even transistors, ICs and Molex connectors. I spread the love between Mouser and Digikey, depending on who has what and at what price. If Newark has one of their web specials running one one of the items I need, they might get the order. I often wait until there is a large “trigger item” for an order, such as a pair of tube output transformers, before tacking on the next list of resistor values or transistor types to acquire in 100’s. A few larger orders a year is better for everyone than little ones every week or two.

I'm learning my lesson about ordering enough stuff. I almost never do. And I do try to keep "selected values" on hand but still run out. Example 10K I order 10 at a time (Dale CMF series) and I ran out 3 times this year and once I couldn't even order 10K. So next order is going to be 100 and we'll see how long that lasts. (I'm down to 4.)

I've been experimenting with building higher order filters, and now I'm experimenting with an adjustable peaking filter. These circuits all use multiples of the same value. I try to design my circuits to use the same values over and over anyway, to get a discount on ordering bulk. (Then I never order enough.)
