Are youngers being more stupid?

I think this has got to be less dangerous than the hair spray blow torches I remember seeing people play with in school.

Or how about the trick where you hold a lit cigarette lighter upside down until the plastic gets melty, and then throw it so it hits the ground and explodes into a big ball of flame when all the butane burns at once... no I didn't do that, but I saw people do it. It always surprised me that nobody ever burned their hand or worse.

Of course, nobody was making videos in the early 90s when I was a youth, so all this stupidity is somewhat lost to time.

As for the Schuko countries being more civilized, I'd call those fighting words 😉

Yet again, some annoying idiot snot has to re-invent something that was perfectly fine for "generations".

The terms "Elders" - "Seniors" - "Teenagers" - "Youngsters" - "Tots" - "Children" - "Infants".....

Two different things there wot.
Every person can be all of the age descriptors you offered but can only belong to one generation.

Not annoying idiot snot at all. Just a grumpy wiseoldtech not paying attention to the difference.

I can't believe that the level of stupidity between young people could go so far.
Weren't you young once Osvaldo? 😉

Going back to around the age of 10, I had a very inquisitive pal who was up for anything.

He used to stick the wires from one side of salvaged transformers into the mains outlet to see what sparks and bangs he could draw from the other side.

I wasn't nearly as adventurous, so stood well back and simply enjoyed the spectacle!

Surprisingly, no children or house electrics were harmed in this elementary pursuit of electrical knowledge. 🙂

My experience is that the "Youngers" are far more careful and conservative than us Boomers. We made rocket engines from scratch, played with gasoline and gunpowder as toys. Played on the train tracks. What is a bike helmet? The class before mine welded the metal shop classroom door shut from the inside with the class in there. The dumb kid in my electronics class put a paperclip in an outlet in the class lab to test what he misunderstood about the days lecture. We enjoyed the total lack of cameras everywhere and glacially slow and unreliable information flow. So kids could do pretty much whatever and deny deny deny. We have no idea who blew up that mailbox or TP'd the lawn because there was no Ring doorbell camera pointed at it 24/7. Ha

In my young days, youth did absolutely stupid things as well. Like driving a simple tuned scooter, meant for 30-40 Km/h, at 90-100Km/h without a helmet or decently protective clothing.
.........
Only if I had a police motorbike tailing me as they are/were not allowed to ram or kick the moped/driver by law if not wearing a helmet; the driver would not be well protected against a fall.
Only had a few problems with the police as I drove pretty responsible. (max 35.000km in 1 year) I outran attackers on tuned mopeds who wanted to steal my moped scooter twice because of being so absolutely stupid to not comply with the law.
But that is stupid nowadays as there is electric....😀

Make a deliberate short circuit at the outlets is not a joke.

According to my mom, my interest in electronics started when the paper clip met the wall outlet at age 4.

Lets just say that I blackened more than a few outlets in my high school. Aluminum foil, kites, and power lines made for some afternoon fun too...…

Looking back, yeah stupid, but so was outrunning the cops at 140 MPH. When you are 17 years old you are invincible.....then a couple of your friends wind up dead due to stupid behavior, and you wise up a bit.
