Are you really interested in 'Hi-Fi'?

Did you upload your track to youtube and then re-download form them for this comparison?
No, no. This was downloaded from some nutcase that decided to ruin a track. This is like a worst case scenario. The sound that comes out of youtube is exactly the sound you see in my recording, at least if you record (don't download) from a reputable channel. I record my sound from youtyuube because what you download from youtube is never the same as what you hear despite what the downloader says. Even Youtube-dl, the most solid app, can't.

Preserving signal fidelity is a concept used across many disciplines, it means just that.

It's also very subject to personal opinions.

So the key is to record from youtube via Audacity rather than use the download feature; interesting.

Hi HB.

You're not alone. Both my nieces demanded new speakers over the holidays, the eldest has outgrown her uni party speakers I built her, and now wants something more hi-fi for her bedroom, and the youngest, who has some hi-fi speakers now wants some party speakers for her dorm. Good on 'em!

Oh, and sorry, I can't help with your other thread.

I think he fumbled fingered when he was typing what he intended to be an abbreviation of your userid.

I spent a good part of my teens in Brussels, and used to hang out at the electronic shops near Place Annesens. (spelling) I suspect all must be gone by now. I started making way back then.

I'm as you suspected seriously into tube audio, I've not updated my profile pictures in years. Here are some of the system as it was a couple of days ago.

I designed and build a DAC, CD transport and the supporting hardware about 4 years ago, a couple of years ago I decided to consolidate everything onto a single Sony HAP. (I used J River before on a server and could access the library from anywhere on the network - no longer necessary.) Lots of analog obviously.

That's facinating, haha. Great work, that is.

I'm looking around places where they sell electronics if they have jobs for me. The only problem is that they're so far away AND it's a minimum age of 18. I guess I'll have to go and.. Fill grocery rayons. Otherwise I'll never be able to buy myself a NuForce AVP-18. They don't sell around here and I would have to pay big money to have a company from the US send me european unit.

When I was 16 onwards, so not much older than you are now I did summer apprenticeships at ATEA and also moonlighted at the local Tandy near my house where I helped Americans who didn't speak French and repaired things, and modified stuff to work with DIN level signals.

You should look into summer apprenticeships at Siemens, Philips and other big electronics companies. You speak good English as well as Dutch obviously so that gives you an edge. Possibly a science teacher in your school can help you with references and ideas. You can learn a lot and also make some money that will allow you to purchase some interesting kit like perhaps the Nuforce.

Yess Yess haha. Derailing seems to happen quite often in this topic ;P

What do you think of buying a class D amplifier from Behringer for subwoofers? It's not as critical as it isn't producing very "audible crisp sound" anyway, right? For fronts I'd always want to have a class AB.

It is quite embarrassing when people call you a guy-girl just for this haha. or when they yell shemale!!! While a shemale is a "pornographic person" and I am clearly not.
Tomboy is the english term I believe.

I started out my sound ventures pretty early on, my father had a whole bunch of gear that I pretty much started to actively use and restore up and I've now been using that stuff for almost 2 decades now haha.

I think I built my first amplifier when I was 12, a single transistor thing. I was really proud haha, later on it was TBA820, TDA2030 and other chipamps and nowdays it is discrete stuff aswell as hybrid designs with chips and discretes. Most of my pursuits are fueled by lack of money pretty much, and one can get really far with the DIY approach. It isn't particularly difficult to make a very good performing device nowdays. Only thing I now wish to get into is making my own speakers but I lack tools to do the woodwork and workspace also. One day though ! hahaha

There's been a lot of talk about significant others and I would say I'm really happy with my GF who appreciates good sound very much and likes how I build and fix stuff <3
I don't think she'll ever get into the electronics side of things but I'm sure she'll be able to recognize and name all the components that I solder onto the boards soon enough as she likes observing what I do ~

This seems like a reasonable course of action, I would check out the class D forum for advice. I've no doubt there are amps that are favored for subwoofer drive over others, and yes AB is often preferred for main speakers particularly if really high power isn't required.

Okay haha. I'll do my best to save up for a behringer iNuke NU3000DSP. Amazing amps imo. Big power with reasonable quality. For subwoofers, I'm pretty certain you won't hear a tiny hiss froim your sub for example.
