Try some Wurlitzer 6240 amplifiers. These can usually be purchased for around $25 or so on ebay. They have a 6sn7 as input and phase splitter and a pair of 6L6 and are good for around 20 -30 watts output depending on the B+ used. They aren't a bad sounding amplifier and for the money make a nice first amplifier. They have good caps and silver wire. Not bad for a 40's vintage amplifier.

Alex, if EL84 is what you like, look for the Dynaco ST-35.

My E60s are rated with an efficientcy rating of 90db at 1watt/1meter, so my question to all of you intelegent, gifted, rolemodels, do you think i can get enough kick out of a 1 or 2 watt tube amp?
I think that is plenty of power for your speaker. I have tired a 8W Kt88 dirving 90 db speaker no problem at all.
I've got a little 6V6 PP amp,it makes about 8W per channel.
My speakers are some older homebrews made by my father years ago..I'm not sure of the sensitivity(kinda lowish),but they like an amp with a bit of grunt. The 6V6 amp has no problems keeping up in my small room, even at "Pantera volume".
The amp was a pull from an old Silvertone console, and I rebuilt it for next to nothing, most expensive part was a matched quad of nice JAN 6V6GT tubes ($40). So far this amp is still my favorite of all the tube amps I've heard/built. For having "only" 8Wpc,it really jams! 😀
