Hi
This is my first post and i need some help in sorting out my Arcam CD192 CD player. I bought this off from a friend but the CD draw is not opening at all. It says loading as soon as you switch it on and when you press load it says open and then goes back to loading. I spoke to arcam and they said the drive belt is gone and it will costs £160 which is a lot of money. Has anyone encountered any issues similar to this and is it possible to buy the drive belt from third party replace it by myself? I opened the unit to see whether there is any damage but i cannot see anything. If you need pictures please let me know. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance

Loading belts are common failure items across many makes and models.
You need to measure the old belt, determine whether its a round or square cross section and measure the approx cross section size and then source a replacement. I would expect to pay under £1 but of course there are delivery charges from suppliers. Belts are widely available.

Hi Everyone
Thank you for your replies. I opened the CD player to look at the mechanism and the belt and everything looks fine so put it back and when i switched it on it starts saying close and i pressed load to open the tray and put a disc and the tray is closed as usual but on the display it still says close. I think the sensor for closing the disc is not working. any thoughts? thanks
Regards,
Jeby

I'm not sure what the exact mech is used in the Arcam but this type of fault is typically the loading belt... are you sure there is enough grip for it to complete the loading cycle ? particularly if the mech is "raised" to meet the CD. Also "end limit" micro switches can cause problems.
With the drawer opening/closing if you momentarily grip the draw it should stall the loading motor. If you can hear it keep spinning the belt is slipping.
