Has anyone repaired an Arcam AVP700? I have one that turns off by itself in random. I have read where there are known issues with the power supply. I have isolated it to the unit itself - as it turns off in random with nothing else plugged into it. Sometimes, it will turn off within 10 seconds, other times it will stay on for a few minutes. Any ideas?
I had problems with a AVR200. DC at the output of one of the amps. Check if you have any DC over 100mV.
I have a problem with an avr200. My girlfriend shorted one side by inadvertantly striping the speaker cable about 2 1/2 inches hahaha.
Replaced the devices and now have some problems with dc, I'm guessing, as the amp automatically goes into fault mode.
How did you solve it audioDIY?
Cheers

Turbo, does the avp have power outs, or just line outs?
If it just has pre outs, it's not likely to have the same problem as myself and audioDIY have/had.
I will have a look at my avr today and see if I can find anything out.

The dead components have a red circle.
R524 (open) was the DC offset cause after replacing all transistors.

Thanks audio, checked the board and found an additional resistor down- I had replaced a few.
Will check it out after work this evening.
Here's hoping

Turbo, can you isolate different modules from the psu?
I would try and isolate and see which one sends it into fault mode.
I have done this with my avr, and found that a resistor in the power amp module has gone high- sending the amp into fault mode

Thanks audioDIY,
that snippet of diagram and your reminder to check the resistors (d'oh) have breathed new life into the avr!

Bernie,
I took a look inside around the mains input. I read where somebody had the same issue with diodes D113 ~ D116 that were replaced by Arcam to correct this issue. I replaced all of these plus four more that were nearby and looked like they might have had high heat for some time. Still no luck - powers down in random. (Just to clarify, the unit literally powers off. It does not power down the normal "Standby" first). It is like all power is lost instantly.
