Arcam Alpha 8 CD player transport issue

Hi; newby here hoping for a little help.
I have an Alpha 8 CD player which has developed a bit of a fault where it takes the disc in for a few seconds then ejects it.
I've investigated and think this might be down to a stretched drive belt which cannot get enough tension in it to 'throw' the gear mech round to lift the laser mech.

Could anyone advise me of the replacement belt part number/ size and advise where I could get one from?

Thanks in advance

Pete

Er, don't think it's that easy. I can measure that it's 2mm but as the supposed problem is that it's stretched??? Plus it's a difficult thing to measure accurately. I reckon about 40mm diameter which I calculate around 125mm but that's not right exact is it?

The ejection of the disc indicates a problem with reading the cd .
Have you tried cleaning the lens as a first step ?.
Old Arcam parts aren't easy to find now , for belt issues some people replace with an appropriate O ring which does the job .

A stretched belt will only be a couple of mm larger than a non stretched. If it is a square section belt then try turning it inside out (seriously 🙂) as a temporary fix.

Round and square section belts can sometimes be interchanged if you can not get the correct one. As long as it grips its fine.

Use cotton thread to loop around the pulleys to determine the belt inner circumference if you are unsure of sizes.

Soaking the belt in hot (nearly boiling) water may effect a temporary fix.
