Hi
...newby (in repair terms!) here...but willing to have a go!!
My Arcam Alpha 7...bought from new in '98...has developed a crackle/scraping sound...which is often (not always) present when playing CDRs.
The same CDRs play back correctly on the PC....so assume the fault is not with the disc...🙂
I also have noticed that the machine can take some time to access tracks..etc
....I'm sure it's slower than it used to be!!
Hoping that someone out there has worked on these machines, and might advise on repair...or even upgrading the thing..😀
....or is it time for the bin, and a trip to my local Richer Sounds....?😱

I would suggest opening it and giving the laser lens a good clean with dry cotton buds or lens cleaning cloth. Then try it again before getting too complicated.
Sorted!!
...That appears to have sorted it...for now at any rate..😱😱😱
Thanks for this.....but would still like to know about any modding/upgrading options for the unit!!
Thanks again
