I've found a bunch of these for cheap. Anyone have an idea if they're ok for DIY projector? It's only 2,000 lumen but maybe the light can be retrofitted with a 400W MH? Need this info before I buy. Thanks!
from what I've heard and seen you generally want a 4k lumen projector but you may be able to modify it to metal halide. I don't know though not my field of expertise
It works good for me

Thanks for the responses about the Apollo. Actually, just yesterday in fact, I was able to pick up a 3m 9200 (with one working bulb!) and an Apollo Odyssey 11000. The Apollo has a varifocal triplet and is rated at 4,000 lumens. Plus, as an added bonus, both OHP's use the same bulb - FXL. Even better, i found replacement long life bulbs - FXL-5 - online for $8.35 ea. I'd say my project just got a swift kick in the butt! Especially considering the ohp's were both picked up for $0. Not a scratch on them, guy just didn't want to "fool with that dang ebay crap". I'll try to remember and post my plog link when I start it on LL.
