APEX AA9MD

Hi

i want to sort the APEX thread a bit.

here is my BOM for AA9MD, schematic, layout

btw...
i am not happy with this "Ultimate 100W audio"... thread because without search you find not so fast ....

edit:
Apex directory done by XRK (thanks)Apex directory

link for Transistors: (found during search at FH9, FX8 and FH9HVX) Transistors
and
here: VAS and driver transistors

How to start?

read at this thread:
starting about post 9448olaso
at post13855

gerber revision 3 is at post 14040

bias is at post:
AA9MD 1,2A bias 56 deg on heatsink +/-30V rail 15V RMS output (50W/4R)
post 9514

max rail should be +/- 30V

post 14036
What is the expected output power of the AA9MD driving 8R speakers?
Thank You Vunce! Just shy of clipping, 42-43W RMS with 22V Transformers.

Good idea here chermann, specific amplifier build details get swallowed up in the huge "100W Ultimate...." thread.
The AA9MD is almost at the 'next up!' status. I wish I could add more build details other than the BDW's are sorted and ready to go! ;)

This is one of 3 AA9MD stereo amps in the works.
Bulk cap boards will be installed and more can be stacked. I can try adding more cap boards and see if I hear improvements.

Any thoughts on using a regulated PSU for the front end. Will this amp benefit with a reg psu. I might try it before final wiring.
Thinking Ultra Bib. lots of mounting space available on faceplate or rear panel.

Transformer(s) - Leaning towards One 500VA Antek running 2 Power supplies with bulk cap boards.

Good Morning (07:14 AM)

Vunce nice selection. well done

Q1: do you try BDW93 B too?
Q2: How do you match that?

as i learned from power MOSFET in reading different comments it makes sense to "warm up" the O/P device nearly to a realistic operation conditions = about 45-50°C then measure the VGS...here the Vbe.
i do that with a heater resistor on my test rig heatsink.

Q3: is there a need (design) to use BJT with high hfe like 1000hfe. figure 1 shows @ 3Vbe and ic about 300mA 2000hfe.

Hey Vunce, what brand are your output devices? Your matching is close!

I'm building a second Integrated for a friend. He loves the sound.

I see STM 93c an 94c are available. If I purchase a batch, I don't know if they will be even close enough to get a close match

Photo 1 and 2 is the AA9 integrated. I'm using aluminum for heat spreaders along with thermal transfer tape under the spreader and between the 2 piece heat sinks. Front plate to be etched and will mount 46 step goldpoint attenuator.

Photo 3 is 1 of 3 AA9 dual mono power amp. Recent delivery of Antek transformers and covers..

Fine build Joel. thanks for your pics.
The white PSU boards are by prasi and the rectifier is on it.right?
the 3rd heat sink is a capX?
the third transformer is for what?
