Anyone used Paperstone or Richlite?

I'm planning a TQWT-flat (TQWT-mkII) build, and was thinking some nice black Paperstone or Richlite would be ideal for the centre of the front baffle. (They're essentially modern versions of Bakelite.)

The stuff appears to be somewhat hard to source in Ireland, though, and probably not available in less-than-full-sheets.

Anyone used either?

Cheers,
Jeff.

In an earlier working life I was called on to modify similar material in a lab setting. (We needed to mount some stainless reactor vessels in through holes in the tops.

It was impossible to cut with woodworking router bits. We could not remove the tops to cut them elsewhere and used concrete coring equipment.

The manufacturer cut them with a waterjet.

Unless you can get openings cut before use, it would not be a material I recommend.

If you attempt this at home - take care to ventilate the fumes and dust.

Interesting. I'd bet the lab surfaces were an epoxy resin, whereas Richlite and Paperstone are acrylic resins. Their literature says to use carbide-tipped woodworking tools, anyway.

Still, something to keep in mind. I do have some diamond core-bits, but they'll no doubt be the wrong size....
