Yea. Same intention, different verbal approach - Al's note was that a good one's good, I was agreeing that a bad one's bad 😉
Vikash said:ooo, I've just a great idea for a project for the next meet. 😀 This is a pretty pointless post since I want to keep it a secret for a while til some ground work has been done. But hey, just letting you guys know that I'm a man with a plan for the next time!
Time to break out the thumbscrews methinks 😀

Maybe as a satire... that is so far off the deep end as to be a hilarious read...

Nop, but from what I know of you two, you'll both be very interested in it!

Vik your a star. So exactly how many strippers are you booking for the next meet?
Yes, nice bloke. Be nice to see more of him.
Aaah ...you fell for his routine did you?
Sure some of you aren't missing any gear? 😉
It's the Villiage People for you mate! 😀 Then Al can play YMCA again...ShinOBIWAN said:

OK the next event is starting to sound appealing! I might actually turn up if you can promise me this is going to happen. I'd hate to get there and find out you built some boring audio related guff instead. 😛

I think everyone left with their gear accounted for but there's two and half tonnes of lead gone missing from the roof of the building... hmm freak weather or Mark? 😀

Hey Jan
Its actually Ant rather than Andy. If you call me by my name then I'll consider your debt to me repaid. 😀
Jan and Hugo have the only Aleph X based in-car-entertainment setup in the world. Man it sounded good. 😉

Err... Ant. And give my regards to Angela! (I hope I got that right...).

Right, if it's disco speakers you want...🙂
No need to say I'm flattered with the AlephX comments.
Of course I only build what others carefully lined out for all of us, and a big 'Thank You' should again go to Grey, Nelson and the many, many other members in the various Aleph threads. 🙂

Did you complete the PP presentation? If so could you email it to me. Shame you couldn't be here to deliver it but I'd like to peruse it just the same.SY said:I wish I had been able to get to England to give my talk on this; it's a very common mistake and usually made by pretty smart people. Ah, well, one more reason you'll have to figure out a way to get down here for next year's Burning Amp meeting.
Vikash, yes I did except for some graphics bits. When I'm at my other computer, I'll upload it to my own web pages and give you a link.
p10, L&V made extensive use of double-blind. I should add Dick Greiner onto the list, too. Sean Olive has a nice list of papers on his website, http://pweb.netcom.com/~solive/sean_olive.htm .

If I've missed any names I do appologise.
We raised £150 which I'll top upto £200. Vik will be passing this over to the charity as a Cheque made payable to them.
Once again many thanks and we should feel good that not only did we get to enjoy this fantastic hobby for a day or two but also give something back to the building that allowed it happen.

Orchestral on Full Range speakers
Phil,
the two CDs I brought were:
Tallis - Spem in allium ( the difficult choral track)
Elgar - Enigma Variations ( rythmically complex with huge organ pedal notes toward the end)
Can't remember whether Chris put something orchestral on also during Saturday.
Counter-intuitively, a well implemented full range is very satisfying on orchestral and choral, especially on-location recordings, even though you expect them to sound feeble from the sensitivity ratings. A really good amp. is essential, of course. javascript:smilie('😉')
wink
Hope this helps.

Hearing fullrange speakers for the first time. RAndyB and Chris' speakers (and amp) especially. I think I preferred them to all, but maybe because I could imagine them working well at home.
I'm totally unfamiliar with orchestral music, what were you playing on it?
