Anyone tried this Mcintosh c22 knock off.

I ordered up the "complete Jadis JP200" kit from ebay too - came with a bunch of absolute junk parts. To top it off they sent a Diode tube too tall to fit into the chassis. You'd be better of just buying the circuit card then sourcing all the parts your self. The circuit cards are pretty good quality.

best of luck

The C22 is not one of the best sounding vintage pre-amps I have heard, so I can't imagine building a likely adlibbed knockoff.. (I'm not a big fan of vintage pre-amps in general, most modern designs are a major improvement in many ways)

Take a look at Broskie's Aikido line and phono stages.. PCBs are available from Tube CAD Journal

what Kevin said. I also add though the board quality is good, the layout and circuit can be pretty awful. A few years ago I took one of the Matisse phono boards and built it via the enclosed schematic.

The RIAA was way off - no bass and a massive treble uptilt - and I fought RF issues, even with an enclosed aluminum chassis. I eventually made some modifications adding grid stoppers, changing the RIAA feedback, and the way the output coupling caps were connected. It got dramatically better but still wasn't very good.

Heres the finished board with good quality parts
