Anyone tried the EH fat bottle 6CA7?

I want to buy a quad of these ElectroHarmonix fat bottle 6CA7's for my MingDa MC34B amp. It comes stock with Chinese 6P3P's which sound remarkably good in this amp. Vp is 420 volts. I have put in a set of old Mullard EL34's and the tone is awesome. If the EH is a good tube (reliability?) and has good tone I'd like to know before spending my hard won currency. Experience based comments appreciated.

Here is a picture of the EH fat bottle 6CA7's.

Hi rcavictim,
I now have a set in my Eico HF-87a. The originals were EL-34's and the Electroharmonix are great . A big improvement overall. The biggest improvement was in the bass (more control) and just plain cleaner. They are driven by 6SN7's. I've tried many other here and ended up using 6SN7EH, also the 12AX7EH. Each one was an improvement.
I have a couple friends that heard the difference as well. My wife is also in agreement! I am driving a pair of PSB Stratus Golds. No problem unless I want it really loud. Then I bring out a Marantz 300DC.

Thanx Chris,

How many hours have you used them so far? Did you happen to get them from PartsConnexion? They are on sale a matched pair for about $25,00 US right now.

I have a gone-over pair of Eico HF-20's (P-P UL 6L6, 20 watts/ch.)and may put them in those as well.

Hi rcavictim,
Actually, I got them from New Sensor in the US. I bought two matched sets and confirmed the match myself. They have been in the amp for about 9 months now. They might have 60 Hrs. on them of inspired listening.
The 6L6EH's have been very good. No fear at all withthis brand so far. As long as the component values in your HF-20's haven't been changed, you should be good. Increasing the size of coupling caps by a large margin is not recommended.
