Did you notice when the photographer/recording approached the baffle, the bass content reached lower? There is going to be a horn torus surrounding a open baffle, with concentric circles at its lowest of frequencies, changing shapes to a 'lobing' shape as frequencies rise.
Pity the poor fifteen inch driver trying to push forward low frequencies, the pressure wave moving along, only to be snatched away from open-space by the slow rising rarefied wave.
