Hello Mark, Regarding Andrew's comments about the PCB's then it would seem that these versions have not been built and tested. I was under the assumption that they had already been used for other production runs.
This would make them useless for a quick knock off run as they would need to be fixed per Andrew's comments and prototyped before a production run. This would significantly alter the cost, I was hoping for a proven set of production files.
As Raja has pointed out AOS has a slightly less featured board for $7 US but will not have any for 3 to 4 weeks. His design does not use the SMT chip that ALW's does.
My cost for running these boards, double sided, 2 oz copper, screened and masked is $2.70 UK Pounds, less than $6 US for 100 peices. This is regardless of any minor changes that would be made to the circuit.
ALW, as per Marks request, could you get us a similar price for 100 peices of both Neg & Pos versions of a proven design such as yours? This would be based on PCB only of course, with a seperate price for the parts kits that you have?
Regards and congratulations
Anthony

I think you guys should go with ALW boards and gladly accept any price he offers you. His design is proven and has been tested by many users (who definitely provided feedback). Sometimes it's better to pay just a bit more and get a superior product.
I, myself, wouldn't mind getting at least 12 boards.

I have the simplest of taste*
"I think you guys should go with ALW boards"
I agree. I don't think too many people except maybe Jan and Walt have even a clue how much the design details matter in this design. Andy has been refining this design for quite sometime and has done a job that I can truly give a thumbs up to.

Well Peter we are trying, but he has his hands full right now I think Mark, Raja and I are just waiting for Andrew to respond to our recent request for a group buy from him or if he would send me his proven production files. Andrew has said that such a buy would deplete the demand for kits from him and he could be stuck with parts for some time to come. That is why I asked him what a group buy price would be to buy his parts kits from him and I could get the boards made in Canada for him as he is otherwise proccupied of late.
Anyway Andrew please repond when you have time to consider all the options here.

I'll need 12pos a nd 12 neg boards for me and friends.
I hope you can manage with Alw boards.

Put me on the list to ...
for at least 6-boards 3pos and 3negative. I currently have 4-boards (+12 -12 +5 and -5V) working. The first two in the analog section of my DAC and it is a big improvement over the 317 and 337 it replaces (more dynamics and inter details, improved imaging).
If enogh people are interested in this buy, they also need the other components and so why not go for a complete kit? (If it means a lot more work for the people driving this project I can imaging they are not willing to do this).

Hi,
Okay guys Andy kindly responded to our requests today via an email to myself. He's been very busy and considering the circumstances that have lead to the delay, we should feel very lucky that he's taking the time to help us, there's a baby on the way in the weekes houshold.
Here are the details for the pcb quotes,
100off either type (+ve or -ve) for £376 for 100off
(£3.76 ea.)
For comparison 50off would be £264 (£5.28 ea.)
Note these are for each type, i.e. if you wanted 50+ve and 50-ve both are at
the 50off price, making £538 total.
Delivery time for the boards should be around 15 working days from the point
of order - I'm not sure how you would organise payment etc., since this
represents a larger financial commitment than I'd normally do for my own
personal use, let me know the group thoughts on this?
Boards will be made available without parts, although Andy can perhaps offer Rubycon ZA's at a good price, we can enquire about this to Andy later if the interest is high.
So all that is now required is for a group buy to be organised, so we need to get the funds together before we ask Andy to go ahead with the pcb's. I could make the total payment to him myself without asking for payments from diyers first, but feel this would be poor use of intelligence, as I may become stuck with a load of boards that I do not want, and funds wasted......
With myself I'm prepared to ship to 'regional' volunteers (and I use the term VERY loosley, meaning the fewer shipments I have to make the better), so someone will have to handle shipping for an entire country etc. I'm not prepared to ship single boards etc,to each individual who wants them. So if you're desperate then either volunteer for the service to your area or suffer without..........
Recieving the money though is proving to be a problem, I have not got a verified paypal account, until I get my next bank statment with the four digit code I will not have the option of recieving money........
So if anyone knows of another method or can offer their services that would help......
Thanks
Raja

I have a verified account Raja, I can collect the funds for you and send you the money when your account is set up. A wikki should be setup for people to sign onto to officially log thier requests. When there is enough to make the group buy, we can ask people to send thier cash and chase them down from the list if we have too. Once you have enough cash to pay for the order then you go ahead and send it to Andrew. Some estimate of Postage will need to be given so that can be included in payment. Any extra cash from Group Buy's usually gets turned over as a donation to Diy Audio.com for server maintenance.

Hi,
I will chase up my bank account via the phone and see if they can supply the code.
I will also try to get a price list for shipping via Royal mail to various destinations...
Thanks
Raja
By the way I should have mentioned, I don't think Andy will be supplying the ad825's, so this is something that either needs a seperate group buy or can be left to the individual.....

I have just replaced the wiki page after peranders had deleted it
(yes there is a history section to show who has changed what)
Must have been a mistake on his behalf, although it does seem a conflict of interest considering that peranders is also trying to sell his own regulator pcb’s SEE http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=28404

PayPal
Raja,
ISTR that there was something on PayPal about going direct to the bank for the codes (before your statement arrives). You may wish to look into it.........

peranders has kindly moved the page for us? to:
http://www.diyaudio.com/wiki/index.php?page=ALW+regulator+pcb+group+buy
http://www.diyaudio.com/wiki/index.php?page=ALW+regulator+pcb+group+buy
Peranders can you kindly refrain from changing the wiki page. (Unless you wish to place an order).
Re: group buy for the ALW Super Regulator PCB boards
Irwin,
Follow the wiki page link and select edit, add you order under one of the other orders (instruction of order layout is on the page).
We only at present have regional distributors for Canada and the uk (with the initial shipment coming from the uk)
