RE: Another technical glitch, what kind of track thickness do we require????
THEY ARE AFTER A MINIMUM TRACK WIDTH AND TRACK SPACE FOR AN ABOUT QUOTE SEND THEM THE FILES IT WILL BE MUCH MORE ACCURATE.
RE: Plus they accept eagle, so Mark I'm assuming the files I have already are OK, without the need for further mods???
YES THEY ARE (DISCLAIMER BLAR BLAR please bear in mind that I did not lay this out and that I don’t have the schematic to check it, components to check footprints, it would probably be worth asking if you can have a first off sent or a least a plot. Although I doubt that you would have been sent these files by the generous creator if they had bugs).

RE: Hello Mark, I have a quote for $10 CAD per board, about $7 US based on 50 boards. I used the Jung zip file you posted, I just want to make sure that I am in the clear If I go ahead with a North American Group Buy.
I WILL DO BOTH THE POS AND NEG FILES FOR YOU ALL OVER THE WEEK END
THE CURRENT ONE ATTACHED WITH THE DRILL FILES SHOULD BE OK TO USE BUT I WILL TIDY IT UP AND POST THEM BOTH

Hello Mark and Raja, I think it might be cheaper if I get your boards made in Canada and ship them to you Raja. Unless you can get them cheaper than $2.75 pounds of course.
Mark thanks for offering to clean up the files and provide both a Negative and Positive set of fresh files. I can send them to my vendor for his review early next week then.
Regards
Anthony

Hi,
Provisional price from top-tec is £1.97 per board if we order 100. 17.5% vat will be added to this, so we're looking at £2.31 per board at 100 boards......
I'll send the eagle files to top-tec and see what they say about actual cost, by the way price increases by 10% if we want 70um/cu tracks ....
Using standard parts per board
0.6 watt resistors * 9 = around £1 for all 9
d44h11 = around 77p each
lm317t = around 50p each
caps rubycon za around 8 caps of various size largest being 100uf and 35v = £10 approx
diodes = 1p each 2 required
led = around 10p
1n5342b= around 19p
opamp ad825 =£3.16 each
volt ref lm329 for supplies over 5v = from .89p for (100ppm), 50ppm = £2.24 and 20ppm = £2.99.
tl431 = ranges from 0.41 to 0.85 p
ztx751 eline = £1.00 for 2
most prices are subject to 17.5% vat
so we're looking at approx £25 in parts given the prices, the biggest price eater is the caps, so if anyone can come up with a suggestion in place I'm listening.....
Thanks
Raja

so doesn't anybody know how much current those thing can produce?
Nowhere I found mentioned how many mA for a data tension can they produce.

Hi Mark,
Using power pool x, there are no tooling costs, the down side of this - you have to wait around 18 days for delivery. If you click on products on the top tec page (left hand column) and then select pool x, you'll see what I mean. In any case perhaps we're better off going with colomb as there may be more buyers abroad than the UK......
Well I've pursued this as far as I'm going to. The rest is now up to the general consensus of the forum.....
Thanks
Raja

Well if someone would create a Wikki page for me, we could see what the actual interest is like.
You know the usual, Name, location qty wanted (Pos & Neg)
If we get enough orders to go ahead, I would be taking Pay Pal only plus 3% for the PayPal surcharge. If / when we hit the one hundred mark (of each) I will send out a prepayment notice.
Please see my earlier post for prices, the goal is to hit at least 100 pieces of each to get to the $5.20 US price.

It's really easy to create a wiki page. Just do as I did: copy!.... but remember to change in the right places and also: Only one page with the same file name.
Before you really push the button you must have a prototype and a review of the pcb layout.
Seriously speaking, why don't you ask ALW for this? He has already a pcb which is well tested. If the interest is huge, maybe someone else should administrate for him or at least help him.

Hi,
ALW and myself have already pursued this issue privateley, ALW made this suggestion himself, and asked me to run quotes by him. Having looked at the quotes, he suggested that the better option was to use the quotes, rather than his own supply.......
In any case those eagle pcb files are from him........ he sent those to algar_ , who was kind enough to send them to me.....
As far as I can tell the eagle zip file is ok. As Peranders said though we would need to see a plot of some description before ordering, so this is the next step. Perhaps interest will increase once everything is finalised and presented to the forum.
Thanks
Raja

Not quite true, I sent Algar files, but the ones he's sent to you are significantly modified in a number of ways and are not the same as my layout. He has updated it to reflect my current choice of components, but the layout is not as tight as mine and resorts to additional links not present in my layout.
It would be prudent to ask algar whether he has built any and tested them - upon closer inspection of the layout the ground plane appears to have no electrical connection 😉
There's also at least 1 shared current path that I do not have in my design, whether it matters is not something I'm going to analyse, all I will say is this is a wide-bandwidth, low noise design and details matter - a lot. Unless you have experience in these areas tiny details matter. If noise is in uV you have to consider the effects of trace impedances - 1ma through 1mOhm is 1uV of potential error.
For the record Raja and I have discussed him distributing the boards on my behalf for this group buy and whilst I can compete on the PCB price, I have a number of other parts that I wouldn't be able to clear if I sold boards only - I only ever sell boards with the AD825's pre-fitted (to save me having to deal with the support problems of bad SMD soldering afterwards!) and doing 100off, without resorting to the set-up fees of automated pick'n'place, is not something I can arrange at present.
I am NOT a business, I only do this in my spare time as a service to the DIY community, my time is severely limited due to work pressures and other things (such as expecting a new baby within a matter of weeks). Many of you have had poor responses to emails and for that I apologise, but am unable to do anything about it, at present.
If anyone fancies populating boards with op-amps for the group, or buying them through this channel without any after-sales support from me (i.e. Raja or someone doing the distribution), I could manage a price of about £9 for the bare PCB + an AD825.
I can also help with the Rubycon ZA capacitors, which are very expensive, as I have some good stock of these too at much lower prices than the normal channels.
Andy.

I COULD POPULATE THE SO8 OP-AMP’S NO PROBLEM (10+ YEARS IN THE ELECTRONICS MANUFACTURING mainly smt)
ALW could you present a 100 off kit price to the forum (no assembly no support)
Coulomb
Please consider ALW points above regarding the design.
But as I had done them prior to reading the above please find files attached.
If you wanted to inexpensively make this pcb you could just use the bottom layer on a single sided pcb, you would be limited to using a dil op-amp and you would have to place a link in one location. This would probably degrade performance (I am not qualified to judge).
If someone with a homebrew setup wants to do this let me know and I will supply data.

If ALW can do the board plus op amp for £9 and Mark is prepared to fit the op amp (for a fee of course) then I reckon this is the way to go - its a proven design after all.

FYI,
I received 2 positive & 2 negative regulator pcb's from AOS within a week, together with printed schematics.
I PayPal-ed us$30,- total.
Prints are very nice, double sided with soldermasks. 🙂

Hi,
ALW and Mark I am prepared to go with this suggestion, we need to know if 100 boards can be shifted though............
Failing this the price of AOS's boards look ok too, but I' not quite sure if they have all the functions of ALW's board........
Re the Rubycon's, I have big regret's over those myself, I remember when Maplin's was knocking them out at crazy prices, many values available for less than 10 pence!!!!!! I managed to get hold of some, but by the time I got there the popular values were almost gone.......
Thanks
Raja
