Hi
Is this only a UK group buy 😕
I'm also interesting in a jung regulator pcbs , both positive and negative parts, but on seperate PCBs.
The .Zip file above contains gerber files. Do you want me to send it to a french manufacturer for a price (in € for sure 😀 ) ?
In order to get a better price, it must be interesting to sum up how many PBCs are required.
As far as I'm concerned, I need 6 positives as well as 6 negatives.

All and Peranders,
I would also check with www.olimex.com , they are very competitive, short turnaround and sterling quality. Ask for Tsvetan.
I'm pretty sure they can beat the prices I have seen floating around here. IIRC, you can get estimates on-line.
And no, I have no interest whatsoever in Olimex.

Hi,
so far I've had one quote back,
price for 20 boards is £7.75, but I think this can be beaten, I'm gonna try a few others as well. If anyone else wants to try that's fine. Although it may be better to strick to the UK for some of us, but I'm flexible if the cost for the whole group is good. Right now I think we can clear 100 boards once we get a good quote, as everyone seems to want a minimum of 5 boards each or so.
As soon as I get any responses I'll let you know....
By the way now is the time for someone to start up a wiki, so we can get an idea of how many positive and negative boards we need.
Also shipping as I said earlier I'll help out with UK orders, and at a stretch post boards abroad to regional nominees who volunteer to handle shipping in their respective regions - orders permitting.
Also I have no gerber data or drill files for the negative boards, and the company who provided the quote also told me the drill data was missing from the above zip file, although they did work out how to extract the info from the eagle plot.
Is there anyone here who can look over the zip file we have so far and make sure there are no mistakes in it. The last thing we need is crook boards.
Also I've never ordered boards before, so If we do decide a quote is good, should the company be able to provide a plot of kind, so we can check it's ok???
Thanks
Raja

Is there a Wikki for this group order yet? I would be interested in 8 PCB's of the ALW design. I need positive and negative capabilities between 5 to 15Volts anyway.

Raj1 I have browsed this site and found that they will take the eagle files that you have as they are, There is the following note on the site.
IMPORTANT! When you send .BRD files for postprocessing please note that we'll postprocess with EAGLE's DEFAULT post-processor setings: TOP: Layers 1, 17, 18; BOTTOM: Layers 16, 17, 18; SILK: Layers 20, 21, 25; TOPMASK: Layer 29; BOTTOM MASK: Layer 30
There will be others that will do this also as eagle can be downloaded free (trial only limited design size but if opening pre designed files with a bigger than trial limit layout it will let you perform the cad/cam functions (this being all that is required for the substrate manufacture).
So I have revisited the files to check that this is the case, and it is (assuming that my current level of sleep depravation is not hindering my performance).
Time for me to kick off with the questions that will probably be asked next (for those of you that know your stuff).
Is the ad825 not obsolete and will the ad797 or the ad8065 (I seem to have the idea in my head that the ad8065 is the ad825 replacement but cannot remember where this information was obtained from????? I could be horribly wrong).
The next point’s after obtaining quotes is who will distribute, in what continents and should we group purchase all the parts (hopefully hitting some price breaks) or just the pcb’s ??????
I will want 3 of + and 2 of - units to play with.
And provided someone else does the leg work in obtaining part numbers and locations of purchase I would be happy to help within the uk regarding distribution. (I may regret offering this at some point).
I would also assume that the best quotes would be obtained from out side the uk.
(I do apologise to those of you in the uk that are upset by this and I do understand your concern as I spent many years as a manufacturing engineer final product not substrate within this industry and most of the work has gone to more competitive country’s)
problem with importing can be the tax / vat.
You would probably need to order over 100 pcb’s to better the $7 odd mentiond.
Are the gods that originated this design interested in a group purchase?????????
Raj1 if you require both the pcb's in whatever manufacturing formats my offer still stands.

Hi,
as i Stated this is only one quote! Just in case, remember I'm not making anything out of this!
To be honest with you, I can't see us beating 7$ us a board, especially as you'd have to incur international shipping costs if you were to get the boards from europe. I think it will take a large order to get the price around $7 or so. So you may be better buying from AOS yourself direct.
I'm doing this for uk guys formeost, and if the price is appealing to others then they are more than welcome.
I have also asked olimex as suggested by Jan, so we'll see what they can come up with.....
I'll ask other companies if I can and compare and then post the best I can find.
In the mean time why don't you see what kind of prices you can get with the gerber files and report back?
If this doesn't work out for us, I'm ok with either hard wiring my own or burning my own pcb versions, I've already made 1 board up, although this will be a pain I'll do it if I have to.
Thanks
Raja

My posts are delayed due to me being on probation so threads are being placed out of sequence.
Re: Also I have no gerber data or drill files for the negative boards, and the company who provided the quote also told me the drill data was missing from the above zip file, although they did work out how to extract the info from the eagle plot.
Sorry but I neglected to generate data for drilling machines in Ecxellon format I also think that I neglected the mask layer.
I no longer use eagle so it takes a bit of remembering, If you require I will do both + and – pcb files over the weekend (after I have had some sleep).

Hi Mark and ALW,
Ok, I already have farnell and rs component numbers for the parts, some things are cheaper with one or the other......
Mark I can help with UK distribution, and I also work for business post as a courier so perhaps they will offer me cheap next day deals. Although royal mail should be fine.
Again can someone please start up a wiki? Let's see what we can get order wise for positive and negative boards.
I have also sent off for a quote to top-tec, using the power pool x, around 5.05 euros per board if we order 100, bear in mind this is a website price only and I have not yet recieved an offical quote confirming this.
Another technical glitch, what kind of track thickness do we require????
The quote I asked for with top-tec is standard sizes, you can check this youself as they have an online ordering and detail system.
http://www.top-tec-pcb.com/eng/index_.html
Plus they accept eagle, so Mark I'm assuming the files I have already are OK, without the need for further mods???
ALW let me know re: my last e-mail to you...
Thanks

mark stones said:Find below the manufacturing files for the positive version (can someone please see if they are ok) I have split them into top, bottom and ident as separate files they can be generated as one complete file if required.
I could also save them as a bitmaps if someone wants to make the pcb’s from plots (a bit of rescaling may be required).
Let me know if the above is of use and if the other pcb –v version is required and in what formats (file per layer, all in one file or bitmaps?).
If I can get my head around the http://www.alw.audio.dsl.pipex.com/...v2.9_Iss004.pdf
Information I will probably redo the layout in protel as one single + and – pcb as it would be less expensive and I could make it so that it can be cut in two if required.
Hello Mark, I have a quote for $10 CAD per board, about $7 US based on 50 boards. I used the Jung zip file you posted, I just want to make sure that I am in the clear If I go ahead with a North American Group Buy.
I have not seen a preview plot, though I have asked for one. Am I correct in assuming it is identical to the AOS product? If so what makes it a Negative or Positive version?
Sorry if my questions appear uninformed.
Regards
Anthony
Hello gang as a follow up I have a quote of $6 CAD for the Positive regulator from the files provided by Mark. This is for a quantity of 100 boards.
I assume if Mark provides the Negative regulator files the quote will be the same for that as well. The boards would be made with 2 oz copper layer and can be ready with 10 days leadtime.
Is there any interest from the North American DIY community? I would be willing to ship to single point distribution for overseas. ie the UK.
I would have to pay 15% taxes so the cost is actually $6.90 CAD
$6.90 CAD is equal to:
$5.20 US
$2.75 UK Pounds
