anyone here use PRV's 2" phenolic or Ti drivers ?

just wondering. PRV specs their phenolic 2" format drivers with that tiny round horn which makes it difficult for me to understand how they might perform with larger horn.

my intent is home use and application could vary from a K-tube up to Klipsch K280 horn.

Voice Coil's Test Bench review of D4400Tl-ND looked scary in one graph with a 20dB hole around 9KHz.

any experiences/impressions of the 2" and 1.4" PRV compression drivers would be appreciated as would comparisons to Selenium.

I might just grab a Timpano 2" Ti as cheap experiment


which of these if any would work to 500 on a larger horn? Only the 2 inch coil small magnet D2200Ph is rated to 500Hz.

It's a little late (necro-threading) but maybe its still useful. This link has measurements for a D2200Ph on a expo 300 horn. It can actually reach 400Hz with a little EQ. It's purely a midrange driver, don't expect to use it > 9Khz.

I wonder how similar they are to the old Selenium drivers. Many are look-alikes. I’ve still got a bunch of the old D3300 and 3305 (and decent stash of diaphragms), as well as D210’s. IIRC, they are the same bunch of folks that used to make Selenium before the JBL takeover. It would be nice if similar models could be used as direct replacements.

I bought a pair of D280ti:s as they are a direct clone of the d220ti.
I mean not direct, but so close.
I use them in H07E horns though because of size restrictions, but they sound really good.
Ampslab measured this combo also.
