I completed the AMB labs Gamma DAC (the surface mount one) some time ago - it sounds very nice indeed. The only commercial DAC I have had was years ago - a DAC-in-the-box - I am certain the AMB labs is way ahead.
I have ordered a Gigaworks small DAC, when it arrives I will run it unchanged and compare it directly to the AMB DAC.
The only mod that I have definitely decided on is the removal of the 4053 chip - perhaps replace it with a relay to keep the mute facility.
