Anyone familiar with James output transformers?

Hi,

Gavin,

Tang Hill used to be a regular customer of one of the companies I ran.
They always paid in advance by bankers cheque so I can comfortably say they're trustworthy as a business.

You can e-mail them compliments of Reference Audio Belgium and add my name if you like.

If I'm not mistaken the business is run by two brothers, one of them is a surgeon, the other a passionate audiophile.

Analog_SA is correct, the xformers are made by former Tango employees/engineers.

I also recal a member (Thomas?) here starting up a business distributing, amongst other audio goodies, James OPTs.

Just found his website:

AUDIOCRAFT.

Cheers,😉

or from their USA dealer

Youwill find them cheaper from these guys:thlaudio.com

About $135/pr.

John

Or not .... US$189/pair from www.EuphoniaAudio.com and pay only $13~16 shipping within USA, and no extra charges for paying by credit cards.

I have seen many people bid on that eBay seller's listing for well over $200/pair and still had to pay that $68.5~75 shipping, ouch!

Euphonia's prices are a full 40% higher than THL on the models they have in stock. I have compared both including shipping and THL comes out on top. You'll have to wait longer for THL, but Euphonia doesn't have a full stocklist. I would be more than happy to order from Euphonia, except that out of principle I won't pay exorbitant mark-ups OVER RETAIL.

As an example, I need a pair of 6157HS 5K/7K 50W OPT's. THL asks $380/pr plus $55 shipping. Euphonia's price is $598/pr plus at least $15 shipping. That's a difference of $178/pr for which THL can throw in an additional pair of 6123HS.

Agreed, dollar-for-dollar, Euphonia wouldn't be able compete with THL since THL is located right where the manufacturer is.... and Euphonia is a legitimate biz that has to import the goods into USA and pay for transport and import duties etc. Some people see value added in having local dealer for its services, some don't....

I believe there has been a mistake in the quote you got for a pair of 6157HS, in fact, I would pay you $485 for a pair if you would buy them for me, that's $50 more than what you supposedly can get from THL.

Hi all,

in the past two weeks I sent several mails to THL, asking for a quotation, but they never answered. Did anybody else have such an experience or am I the town' s idiot??:bawling: :bawling:

Cheers,

Bruno

similar experience for me. wrote to them on two occasions and recieve no news from them on quotations for transformer prices and shipping charges since they do not list prices in their websites.

I got two 6123 OPTs from thlaudio recently. I didn't have any problems with communication, all e-mails were answered quickly and they shipped from Taiwan to Norway in 3 days.

My amp isn't finished, so I don't know how the OPTs will behave, though...

18 months on, and nothing has changed

I supect they can't correspond in English 🙁

Just a thought- perhaps your ISP (or even your own spam filters) are blocking responses based on the country of origin. I had a similar issue and discovered a filter in my mail server that was blocking emails from the IP block the person was in.
