Short questions:
Has anyone ever build a BIX TT from Acoustic Dimension?
How did you (dis-)like it?
To what commercial TT can you compare it?
Whould an SME IIIs be a nice arm on this TT?
Thanks for the answers!

Not yet! 🙂
Acoustic Dimension and myself (seperate entities to be sure) have been appointed distributor/dealer for the Netherlands.
My first order from Brian Cherry (http://www.diyhifisupply.com/)(The designer) was a BIX. I'm hoping that it will arrive before I go on holiday this friday.
I won't be able to tell you how it compares (listening wize) to other tables...Because I grew up with CD players.
As far as I am concerned, it can/should be compared with other turntables out there that have a seperate motor from the plinth, a high quality inverted bearing, and an acrylic platter. That would put it in the same category as the Scheu Cello and Clearaudio Champion. I am convinced that it should trounce a Rega P3, but the Rega holds it's own in renowned company apparently because of its PRAT (Pace Rythm And Timing)..
I believe Brian Cherry has voiced the BIX to be oustanding in this aspect as well, but it should better a P3 in all other aspects. Because it has the seperate motor pod and acrylic platter, which should (I often use this word if I have not directly compared two things) should be much quiter than the glass platter and the AC motor on the plinth of the P3.
The SME can be used as you can see if you browse a little after you've clicked on this link.. http://www.bottlehead.com/et/bix/bix.htm
I know that the BIX is supplied with 3 seperate armboards for the SME, REGA en Morch (Where have you ever heard of such a service with a TT at this price level!!!?? ;-)
Regards,
Bas
PS...you are welcome to come and listen to the BIX in my home....should you want to listen to it... I am going to try to bring it to the Dutch DIY day in Zutphen on the 17th of April, that would also be a good opportunity to come and listen. I have the standard Rega RB250 arm and will most likely use the Grado Black or Green (because I have them) Not sure yet which phonostage I will use.

It would be nice to have a listen to it before I buy it.
But Zutphen is a rather long trip.
I've had a look at the pictures on diyhifisupply. Looks absolutly great.
Let me know how it sounds when you have assembled it.

I am currently on vacation, so unfortunately I don´t know if it has arrived yet. I suppose it will there when I´m back. 😀
I´ll post some pics of the assembly process and obviously how it sounds...

Bas
