Hello,

I was looking around the net for speaker protection circuits and came across this one,

Build Audio Amps Speaker Protection Board

Has anyone built it?

I have built several copies of this speaker protection.
You can see it at work in my AEM6000 (AEM6000 Based 50W Amp) and my Alpha Nirvana (here).

And you are happy with the circuit, it works well?

I am a little confused about the middle ground connections, what do you have connected there?

I thought it should be amp ground in and speaker ground out.

Do I have the other connections labeled correctly?

Thank you,

David.

Hello David,

This is the list of connections (top to bottom):
1. Ground in
2. Ground out
3. Right amp
4. Right speaker
5. Left speaker
6. Left amp

The AEM6000 build is fairly new but I used the same delay/protection circuit in a ESP P3A daily for many years.
Never encountered any problem however the amps are for near field listening and never abused.
Cheers,

Jacques

Hello,

I took your pic and drew the wires on with contrast so I could follow them better.

Question, It is not necessary to take a wire from the left hand amp board speaker ground out to the speaker protect board, because the two boards share a common ground?

In my mind, I want to run a seperate ground wire from each speaker ground connector on the chassis back to the speaker protect board and run a separate ground wire each amp board to the speaker protect board.

Is one better or worse than the other?

Or are they the same?

(more so the amp ground(s) to the speaker protect board, I know the speaker ground wire(s) is essentially the same)

Thank you,

David.
