How's the image quality at 60" screen size? I'm thinking about getting the 4" lcd at partsexpress.com. How are they about returns?
Here's a recent relevant thread.

4" LCD's (and many 5" LCD's such as the PS1) have a problem with the spacing between the pixels, and combined with a low resolution, makes it look like you're watching through a screen door because you can see either vertical or horizontal lines in the image. Basically, 4" LCD sucks. Also, it was said in another thread that there are two models that they ship from Parts Express, one of them with an easily removable controller board, and one which is mounted on two-sides, and therefore you can't remove the back panel and projection through it is impossible.
I know I should have told you to blow off and search through the forum, but I found it easier just to tell you the answers. 🙂

Thanks. So after reading that thread, the fujinon and delta 20 lens are of no good for this project to view 60" or larger. I have these two lenses sitting here and have projected an image from a fujifilm digital camera that has a 2" screen. The distance of wall to lens is 9 feet. The Delta can project a larger image in shorter distance than the Fujinon. The image looks faded because not enough light from the camera. I wish I had a real lcd screen to test.
But I will put the Delta and Fujinon lenses aside for now and order a 10.4" Sharp panel and use other lenses.
How were Delta and Fujinon used in TV?

the 4" parts express LCD will not work, the cables get in the way of moving the controller boards.
If you still want to to try 4" I have a PSone screen I am going to put on ebay soon.

Cool, I will want a 4" screen sooner or later. Might as well put the Delta and Fujinon lens to work.
You know, you don't need just a 4" screen to use those projection lenses -- you can shrink your screen down with a fresnel and a concave lens and then run it through a projection lens.
But if you're going to use fresnels... do you even need a projection lens? I was getting a decent image with just a fresnel and my laptop screen (with the backlight).
Any thoughts anyone?

I did try using a fresnel and a computer screen, the image was big but was blurry and washed out. Is your's blurry at all? without the focusing lens?
Unfortunately, the Delta and Fujinon lens assemblies are designed to have source (LCD) placed very near the lens, and to my knowledge, using a fresnel between a larger LCD and a CRT lens assembly (like the Delta or Fujinon) will not work.
You are right, Clint, that placing a fresnel in front of an LCD or TV (100" TV Project for example) will project a large image, but the quality will suffer. Fresnels aren't very "optically accurate" for lack of a better term. That is why most people try to place fresnels in the "pre-lcd" stage of projectors because this leaves the LCD image unaffected by the inadequacies of the fresnels. I hope that makes sense.

I have found that even with the screen door effect... it is only "really bad" when i set 2 feet from the screen. I guees its like a tv set... the further away you are, the more solid the image is...
