YesterdayI saw a lot of (at least 300 pairs) transistors in TO-3 package, marked with EXICON 10N20 or 10P20. The seller said it's high-end audio transistor. Looks old, some are oxided. But the price isn't cheap. I didn't buy it since I don't know a manufacturer named EXICON. Does any body know what are those transistors?
Exicon are high grade lateral MOSFETs for audio, sold by Profusion (Profusion plc, Audio Semiconductors and Components)
I believe they are made by Semelab. If they looked old and oxidised, beware.

Just do a google on those part numbers. These are new parts and are equilivent to
the toshibia 2sk135 and 2sj50 lateral mosfets like used in the popular Halfler amps.

Lateral! I may lost the chance to get them stocked. Hope they are still there tomorrow. Those used transistors were dissamblyed from imported electronics junk boards. They are usually ture parts, far more reliable than most "new" transistors.

Ive listened to an amp with theese trannies, with zero nfb and line balanced design. It sounded amazing, thats all I can say!

Wow great..pity that only about 30 pairs left for me on the second day. Can they be used on F5 amp?
hmm i would beware still, these parts have not really been made long enough to look old and there has been a worldwide shortage of these semelab diffused laterals since flooding in their asian manufacturing plant knocked out the world supply, which means distribution of new parts still has not come back online. Semelab supplies these laterals which are rebranded under the name exicon, profet, alfet, etc etc this would have been a very tempting target for fakes.
the F5 would have to be tweaked due to tempco and the lack of a need for external thermal stabilization (and pinout) but yes if you scored the real thing you are in for a treat, they are superb parts. what you have there should be 10A 200V (200W) double die parts if memory serves me

It looks ugly but I believe they are true parts. The fake possiblity of used transistors is very low according to our experience. I dare not to buy if they are in shinning metal enclosures. Don't have a F5 now but I will try on my 6N8P+MOSFET hybrid for a test.
