Hello, fellows!
I've juest been hired by a telecom equipment vendor in China, Huawei, and will be sent to New Dephli, India to work for half a year. Is here any tube lovers there? I will be very glad, if there is any.

Do you mean New Delhi? 😕
I'd expect there to be quite a few valve enthusiasts there, it's a big city!

Thank you for your correction. I've misspelt that word.
In fact, I wonder whether there is tube treasure in local second-hand market.

India resists to unveil her treasure.
It seems that Indian tube lovers are unwilling to give much exposure to a friend coming from the same continent and choose to continue their life full of mystery.

Hi Ken,
Yes there will be tube lovers in Delhi. However we don't seem to hear from them.
There were tubes available in some small pockets in Delhi. I have bought some a few years ago. Out of 20 tubes only three were useable ! Even if you do find them now , I'd be careful .
Currently I buy new Chinese and Soviet tubes from Singapore. Can't afford to throw away good money on poor tubes.
It's becoming very hard to find old tubes over here. The few that I've seen lately were very bad.
Most tube amps I have seen are all from the US or Singapore.
You'd better get yourself some local friends after reaching Delhi.
On your own , you will certainly get ripped off.
Cheers,
Ashok.

Well, even though the reality is so disppointing, I will continue my venture on tube
searching in India. Why they are so shy?

Hi
Delhi is not necessarily the best place to look for tube fanatics. If you come to the south, the largest factory where tubes were made, is located in Bangalore, where (Huawei has a software operation, as you may know). Here in the Sunday flea market tubes are sold, as also old tube radios and the like.

Hi Geek,
This sounds kind of funny. But I never meet any tube fans or even DIY fans when I visit Delhi. So can you put me on to this Delhi located tube fan ? Funny that this request has to go to Canada to get hold of someone from my country !

Thanks,
Cheers.

I sent him your addy and the URL of this thread 🙂
Since Indian's seem to have not much coordination in efforts, at least online, I suggested my buddy maybe a hub 😀
Seems funny, but not uncommon. I have to go to UK sites to get info on my own country, because Canadian sites want $$$ for the same info. I have even had to go to U.S. government sites to get info on *my* government, because the navigation of Canadian government sites are inferior compared to the American government sites 🙁

I've visited Mr. J. P. Singh, a tube audio fan in Delhi.
First, thanks for Mr. Geek's bridging, so I can find a tube fan in Delhi, India.
Today I pay a visit to the home of Mr. J. P. Singh. He has a wonderful 6L6 PP machine with unique design. Nearly all tube machines will tower the trannies and choke on the board, but by winding trannies and choke with R core, the sizes of the trannies of choke of such PP machine are small enough to be bolted under the board. So on the board we can only see the four power tubes, a pair of 12AU7 or 12AX7 and a 6SN7. The sound is good enough with only one pity-the speakers are a little bit old. He has also designed a compact and delicate printed circuit for a 12AU7 pre-amp. A 6L6 SE is also inserted into his schedule. I suggest that when doing SE, EI core OPT will be better. He says I can see the final output in one month or two.
All in all, I have spent a happy afternoon in Mr. J. P. Singh's house.
