I'm trying to salvage a small plate amp but the volume control is glued into the front of the cabinet. I've already broken it trying to prise it out.
Any ideas?

Without a photo ... difficult to say but a lot of cheap Chinesium electrical stuff use hot glue to stick things together.
As is is already broken, I would drill it out.

Glue hard or soft? Solvents might work, but if it's so hard you've already broken the control I'd be inclined to crush it using mole grips or a vice, or grip it very firmly using either of those and try twisting...
But CAREFULLY.
But CAREFULLY.
Is it just the knob that's glued, or the potentiometer/encoder itself?
Try heating it with a hair dryer. A heat gun might be too hot.
