Hi,
I am a firmware designer who would like to learn how to do PCB layouts. Can someone offer advice as to where I should start in learning??
Thanks,

Practice makes perfect 😉. You'll learn a lot while trying to lay out a PCB.
A trick to spot stupid traces that always works for me is printing out the PCB design. For some reason I spot bad laid out traces a lot faster on paper than on a computer screen.
You might want to try Eagle (www.cadsoftusa.com), it's very user friendly. I've tried at least 15 differend PCB programs (including demo's of very expensive ones), but I always came back to Eagle.
