Jimmy Buffett is somewhat of an enigma. He's one of the richer musicians on the planet. He sells out every concert. He's a heck of an entertainer, but unless you live in Florida, you might not have heard of him.
Until you say "Margaritaville" that is.
My friends and I have been enjoying him since '73 when he came out with his first non-country album called "A white sport coat and a pink crustacean"
I was hooked and have been since. Anyone else?

ParrotHeads unite!!!
We're everywhere. I have most of his stuff, have seen him 6 times and have been hung over from most of those concerts.
If you can't have a good time at a JB concert, you're dead.

Don't tell anyone, but I'm one of the fruitcakes in a hawaian shirt and grass skirt at the Houston(Woodlands Pavilion) shows.
I always liked his music, but only really got hooked in college in the early 90's I've seen every show here since. I even drove 150 miles one year to see him in Austin one year when he didn't make it to Houston.
I always drink about 10 beers too many.

I actualy do like his music. Mostly because my dad is a Parrot Head. I grew up listening to it. Ive been to 2 concerts (my first when i was 6) and have meet Mr. Buffett. Ive eaten a cheese burger on the island in the bahama's he wrote "Cheese Burger In Paradise" on/about. This is because My dad owned a 27 Megragor and we would sail to the bahamas quite often. Well untill he was transfered by the military to Kings Bay.
I Just went on a cruise to San Juan, St. Thomas, and St. Maarteen and of corse they where playing jimi buffett all the time and i knew the words better than the drunk old men on the ship, lol. Margaritaville was the favorite play of course. I love that song and anyone who doesnt deserves to burn in....

Been sick the last couple of days so I was able to finish it. Not a bad read. A bit predictable though. Still, it's Jimmy, so it's good enough.

The entirety of my city seems to be, sells out every year at a large outdoor venue. Its a huge deal every time he comes.
Texas Landshark here checking in. Seen Jimmy several times while on vacation in FL. Always a good concert.
Right on Landshark,
He doesn't get to Vancouver often so unfortunately I've only seen him once but have pretty much every album. Never seem to tire of Jimmy

Saw JB about three months ago at a local outdoor venue, which suprisingly had ****-poor acustics. He played alot more of the old stuff than he did the last time I saw him which is good. Its interesting all the different stories of where people think JB's cheeseburger in paradise is geographicaly, I was under the impression that it definatively was a small island called Cabbage Key just south of Boca Grande. I did have the cheeseburger while I was there...and it was paradise!
"In Jimmy Buffett's world, paradise is just a state of mind."
Jimmy's latest paradise is the island of Cayo Loco. (from A Salty Piece of Land) where yes, he does eat the occaisional cheeseburger.

Interesting Jimmy fact:
JB is one of only six writers to have held the #1 position in both fiction and nonfiction on the NY Times best seller list.
Not bad for a guy who has close to 40 albums under his belt.

His sister, Lucy, has a restaurant in my town. They DO serve a cheeseburger in paradise at Lulu's Homeport .
What's everybody's favorite Buffet song ?
What's everybody's favorite Buffet song ?
Too tough to call. I like to listen to all his music and that's good 'cause I have most everyone of his albums. Not really any faves but I could do without the earlier country style music.
I don't enjoy his music for more than a few songs... each song kind of sounds the same.
However, I think the guy is a terrific writer. If you haven't read any of his stuff, he has a wonderful, readable, style

Boy, do you have some listening to do before making that statement.

I'm not sure of the name of my favorite Buffet song; maybe you can help me ?
I think it was written by Mac MacAnaley (sp?) and has a line that goes
"...it's my job to be cleaning up this mess and thats enough reason for me to be, It's my job...and with out it I'd be less than what I expect of me"

It's My Job. It's on a Live CD recorded not too long ago in Hawaii. I'm don't know if it was on any studio album.
