Any opinions about Monitor Audio R700 speakers ?

Monitor Audio speakers from around that era tended to measure quite poorly, at least from the few reviews with measurements I've seen. These could be an exception but they are old and the industry has moved on considerably since then.

Then again it depends on what a good price is, what condition they are in, what the alternatives are and what you want to use them for. I don't think I would ever buy them to use as they are however.

Have a listen before you buy. Especially check the tweeters are working. Old ones often get gummed up ferrofluid in the tweeters.

But nicely made products IMO. I've modified my old R300-MD considerably.

Restoring Monitor Audio R300 bookshelf speakers.

The tweeters were standard 94mm type. So it was easy. The other standard is 104mm faceplate. You couid change the ferrofluid in the tweeters if a problem. MA tend to use standard parts. IMO, the art hasn't come on that much in the last 30 years. A 6" or 8" plastic bass is a good idea.
