Any open baffle 3 way designs yet with scanspeak 10f/8424g

Hello!

I am looking to upgrade my current speakers, they are two piece using ss9500 and pl18+ scanspeak 8565. I was hoping to find some 8640 4" mids to replace the pl18 with but can't find any for sale.

So, it looks like 8424g is a good one, maybe even to use as open back mid?

Very cool, reminds me of Orion speakers... unfortunately, I am not looking for an active setup.

Curious about other open baffle designs with this driver and impressions on how well it does.

A 4" will be in trouble in the low end, as passive open baffle. The roll-off depends on the with of your baffle, and the same width also limits the dipole upper end.

There are many reasons why modern open baffles tend to be 4-way and active with dsp!

Thanks! I went ahead and ordered Leap crossover design from Madisound for SS9500+10F+SS8565 to give it a shot.

I am keeping the RS225 for the RS28/RS52/RS225 project 😉
