I've had a lot of fun with this little driver so I'm wondering if anyone else has some stories they would like to share. I continue to be impressed every time I listen to them. I even converted my entire HT system to WR125 based speakers. Anyone else?

Many have commented that the WR125 is inefficient but that may depend on how you look at it. The WR125 has a wide BL motor that, while appearing inefficient, is actually more efficient at more frequencies than many drivers. There is almost no compression loss. The WR125 is also much smoother over a much wider frequency range than the FE127E. It can be played with no filters and still sound very good. It may not be the best choice for a single driver/flea amp combo but if you can deliver 5 watts cleanly it will reach very satisfactory SPL levels and deliver bass with authority without needing an exotic cabinet. It reaches 12k before it starts to roll off so if you like (and can hear) frequencies higher than that it's a simple matter to add a super tweeter.

I have a commercially available bookshelf and a kit I'm selling. The bookshelf is nothing complicated. It uses a 7 liter BR design with a super tweeter. It could be easily reproduced and depending on your choice of tweeter may only require a resistor and cap on the tweeter as your crossover.
The kit is a floorstander using two WR125ST and a super tweeter. I'm essentially selling the parts at the same price someone would pay retail for and including the plans.

Reminds me of my skinny Gradient-TL with the Tangband.

Did you try a TL with a single WR125 or bipole?
What about a "quadpole" with two drivers in the front, two in the back? 😉

Thank you. Technically it's not an ML-TL as that is a Martin King name. I used Augsperger's calculations for the cabinet. The drivers are the 16 ohm versions (WR125ST) wired in parallel. My goal was a very narrow modern looking cabinet. I think I came pretty close. When I modelled a single WR125S in a TL it didn't give me the results I was looking for which is why I switched to the dual WR125ST.
The bipole is certainly do-able and would probably be an excellent design. Somebody should do that. Quadpole is a unique idea. Price may become a consideration though.
Yes. Some 2nd order XOs were tried but they didn't sound any better than the full-range/tweeter configuration.

Just today got sound from a continuation of my budget WR125S idea.
Since 1st getting a hold of some WR125, i thought the ApexJr 14mm tweeter might well just be enuff to fill in the top. Mating a pair of $100 midwoofers with a pair of $1 tweeters might seem a bit strange, but stranger things....
1st experiment was the lovely WR125 bipoles that Scott built:

Last week a set of angent TM-3 boxes feel into my possession (~18l, 1/2" plywood, with MDF back & removable baffle (it is interesting that this plywood/MDF combo is one of AudioNote's (UK) claims to fame). Chris whipped me up a new set of baffles for the WR125 and a waveguide loaded ApexJr tweeter. Out from the junk box come 4 3.3 mylar caps (2 in series give the 1.75 uF needed -- worth 2x the cost of the Ts 🙂), a pair of EPI 120 terminal plates, some glue screws, a chunk of Cat 5 and i've got a fresh pair of speakers in my living room (they even have grills (the same grill cloth -- tygan? -- that LS3/5As have -- from a HiFi News review of the new LS3/5A V2 quite rare & sought after now). I need to work in some diffraction control.
Initial impressions are quite favorable.

Have gotten some listening in. Haven't yet decided whether the tweeter is a bit hot, or just my DVD player. This is my 1st set of the CSS drivers where i'm not feeling that the bass is a bit out of control (big box gets the system Q down). Still have more evaluation to do :^)
