I wonder how many people here have Maplin amps that they would like to upgrade...perhaps keeping the original FETs and transferring them to a new board with a better circuit?
I for one would, but I would rather keep the old modules for a (as was) example, and build any upgraded design from scratch, possibly using the Exicon T03 Fets.
I was stating the obvious. Brian (Traderbam) asked how many would be interested to "upgrade" this small amp, perhaps keeping the output devices.Hello
sorry you have lost me ? what do you mean 😕
No one seemed really interested, and some had shown their already upgraded (if not completely different) amps, with other or more OP devices, and such.
ATM I'm anyway a bit short of time, struggling with a discrete phono pre who starts oscillating at about 2 kHz when I'm trying to fit the PCB into the case... weird.
This circuit improves on the Maplin mosfet amp.
1/ Constant current source on front end.
2/ Proper 2 transistor current mirror.
3/. Front end decoupled to eliminate hum.
I have built this and tested it and it was very good.
An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.
Hi Nigel,
I know it's a fairly old thread with invisible pictures.
Would you happen to still have the schematics of your modified Maplin amp?
Thanks.
Cheers,
Jacques
