Hi i am planning on adding an iwata 600 horn to my next speaker build paired with b&c de250 compression drivers.I want to know what are other owners using with this waveguide and how low they cross their horns;
I have been using iwata 600 with the b&c de250 crossed at 1500hz and also the peerless 2544r00 crossed at 1300hz ontop a tangband-w8-1772. The peerless sounds better to me and measures flat until 11k then i boost a bit with minidsp.b&c measures flatter until 18k but sounds a bit harsh at times... What are your experiences with this horn does anyone use it. I would like to try some bms horns at the future they seem interesting.. Is anyone using a different compression driver and can post his thoughts ;;;;
If you listen at low medium volume, no worries... I had mine by mistake run without any active crossover for two weeks until I noticed. Try at 875-950.. Depending on horn loading, you may like it very much.
The Iwata 600 has a two inch throat.
If it sounds harsh to you, I'd take a long look at the adapter that you're using to pair a one inch compression driver with a two inch horn

Iwata 300 has a 2 inch throat 600 has a 1 inch throat.What i am looking for is other user experiences. Someone might cross lower with a different driver and use another driver for the higher frequencies an other thought is use an other horn for midrange (Klipsch k 402 is a horn i would like to try in the future) and keep the iwata handling the higher frequencies. Horn dynamics is starting to get on me..
Try a lower crossover. I have both of those drivers as well and agree with your assessment. You won't find much better treble than what you have. A high sensitivity 12" or 15" midbass would complement it nicely.
Another option would be a much larger horn like the K402, SEOS 24-30, Iwata 200, etc. with a BMS 4594HE or Radian Neo 951BE. With big woofers or horns below.
Or use a horn-loaded 8" below your Iwata 600 with woofers for the bass range.
