Depending how picky on sound quality you are, the best L-pad (transformer type) I have heard is the Fostex R 100 T but depending on the power you are using a good quality, low inductance resistor like Mundorf of Path should fill your needs. Just my .02 cents.

about 60x the price of the one I'm using though 😀 If money was no object of course I'd use it but for my homemade jobbie a bit of an overkill. But that is the exact sort of thing I was on about when I said a better l-pad. I'm sure it would work better, I think anyway.
