Hello,
I just picked up a Crown CX844 deck and was wondering if there are any other CX844 owners on this forum.
Thanks,
Roger

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.
Nice... I'm planning to get a good RR myself, probably an Otari or similar.

Always wanted a Crown after messing with one in the sixties at college...
Currently have 2 Teac X2000R's that need some electronic logic repair 🙁

Otari MX-55-T-M
I've always wanted a Crown too as a matter of fact, but have not found any nice ones, so...
Just got a nice Otari MX-55-M-T in very good working order. Have been in the process of checking it out and learning how to configure this thing to suit me. Because it is mpu controlled it has many options for punch in record, reel size and speed selection, I/O configuration, etc..
It has 4 heads and 3 speeds (two different ranges) which are 7.5ips, 15ips, and 30ips.. It takes 10 1/2" reels as well as 7" and 5" reels.
It also has Dolby HX and is extremely quiet. The heads are in pretty good shape.
Inputs and outputs are all XLR style, but the output amplifiers have an unbalanced output option (still XLR) which allows me to plug it into my stereo system using adaptor cables I have made up.
I still need to make up the cables for the inputs, but don't have the right XLR connectors.
I hope to do some live recording with this machine and will acquire or build some mic pre's and get a decent set of microphones.
I plan to clean up and possibly repaint some of the sheet metal.
