I've been thinking of getting into these little guys for a while. The ELF 1.5 uses a second driver in a ".5" configuration. The Raw Acoustics guy is developing some sort of "Super ELF" using a different driver on the bottom.
What about the new Tang Band W4-992S for the bottom driver. It has an FS of 55Hz and the plot looks okay until 2-3K. I think this might be a really good match (visually and sonically) for the W3-871s.
Oh, one other thing. How does one go about box tuning with 2 driver in a .5 way configuration? Trial and error?

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.
Well these drivers are OK but if you know of the TB line as I do there are many better drivers they make.
They have over 350 they make and you only see a handfull on the TB site.
You would have to ask Darrren at PE if they are getting these in, as with TB speakers you have to place a order of a min of 1000 on models first before you can get a lower quantity order of 500.
And after a few talks with Darren it is getting a little to many drivers to carry 500 of every thing TB has on its site that people would like.
So PE as the other company that sells TB has to be very picky on drivers it gets made.Or you could have 1000 drivers sitting for a very long time.
On the super ELF will be put on desplay at the Vancouver meet in a few weeks at Bent Audio, along with 3-4 subs that are all the Easy Sub line.Lock miter for assembly using Duct tape and glue only.
No clamps.
The Super Elf the 871S is a tweeter not a 1.5 anymore.It will be a full 2way.
The lower driver is the bass driver.
I am also doing testing on the 879S MCM 606 and will be getting the 881 from PE in as well.Do do tuning on the 1.5 and 1.0 cabinets for those wanting to purchase the cabinets from CSS or Raw Acoustics.

Thanks
Any chance those guys will be making it down to socal for the DIY thing in May (can't remember where I heard about it, come to think of it)?
Anyhow, thanks for the response. I just got a confirmation email from Bob Reimer regarding my elf 1.5s being shipped out. My plan is to play with those to get a feel for the drivers, move them to my office, and move forward with my own ideas. I'm thinking some sort of configuration with a W3-871s + something bigger. I also happen to have a Behringer Ultracurve 8024 so I'm guessing I can fix some of my less-than-ruler-flat crossover attempts.
I'm really digging the full-ranger-ish type systems. I listen to a lot of piano and every two-way I've ever heard has (to varying degrees) problems at some point along that instrument's range.
Have you had any experience with the bigger Jordan drivers that CSS is now stocking? Both them look like they have great response in both vented and sealed enclosures. Also, the extension looks good enough such that the breakup would never be a problem.
