Hi Everyone, I drawn this up and wanted to share. as this is a typical voigt pipe, but, I enlarged the enclosure and made some other changes. We are going to use a Visaton 8" FR driver from Parts Express, but I will say that this size of speaker will probably go down to high 30hz's and should give a great sound experience.

Did you simulate or model the design? How did you arrive at dimensions for the enclosure with a BG20?
I have four pieces of Beech wood I have left lying around
I had some left over Beech wood, and I took the Boards I have, to this design. I have not yet modeled it in MJ Kings MathCad, But I would say, I would expect Good results! Look at other Pipes similar to mine, and I added a larger port opening. Anyone wanting to simulate this is more than welcome! I have not built this, So, Just a good project for someone, as I supplied a good drawing to start with! I would imagine this to be a 128 liter enclosure. Pianolydia

Looks good. I would cover the indicated area with felt from the top all the way slightly past the driver. Then I would use BAF to adjust the sound.
It might be a good idea to have the pipe opening facing backwards if you get a lot of midrange coming through.

sounds interesting, will follow this thread.
Sim of Voigt w BG20
The bass extension may not be as deep as you hoped, and the placement away or next to wall makes a big difference. Cone excursion may be a problem with more than 3 or 4 watts input.
Plots:
FR placed touching back wall,
FR with back 36 in away from wall,
Cone Excursion,
Impedance.

For BG20 I would recomend using tweeter, from my experience it is difficult to get nice sound using it as fullranger.
Thanks everyone for your hard work!
Yes, This is just a drawing and has not been built, however also, I had a feeling the bass extension was not going to go deep enough! but maybe instead of the Slot loading port on the bottom, we can have a 3" port 4-1/2" long would give us a little lower I feel. Maybe better to just have one front round port. As a tweeter yes, There probably isn't a Full range alive that can do all! Audio Nirvana claims his can, and I have my tweeters in my Converted ADS L620's and they will be ready for the AN's in March. You might want to check that post ADS l620 conversion. That's my home main speakers, and It will be nice when I AM DONE. All I lack is the Fr's $$$ So, they sound very good as they are, but I am running the woofers full range with no X'ver and it actually sounds good! But not as good as a light stiff paper cone, with a heavy magnet and designed for higher Spl I am hoping that midrange loss will be taken up by the AN's. Thanks again! Pianolydia

Hi,
Have a look at these Pictures:

Bjorno,
Your Hornresp sim is very different from my sim for bass extension. Hmm... I wonder where the difference could be as the impedance peaks are in completely different places. Let me double check my sim.

is it not true that....
The Fs of this driver is 38hz, and I assume the horn will let it go down to Fs... The volume from my Bass Box Fb was about 49 liters. Which proves perfectly that F3 of 60Hz. Means lowest bass extension before natural roll off will be 40hz. good enough! don't you think? Pianolydia

I think Bjorno's design is his own optimized design, not a sim of the OP's design. I checked the numbers on the Hornresp input and the CSA is much larger meaning the volume is much bigger, hence the lower fb.
For example, the S1 value should only be 3.25 in x 8 in = 168 cm^2. I agree that the BG20 in a sufficiently large enclosure can reach mid 30 Hz.
Mystery solved.

Yes You saw my optimized design...but in the upper right hand of my first picture ~ the suggested design can be found..that I dismissed...
Here is a quick new pic.:

PS: If correctly making S1 = 7.9375*3.25*2.54^2= 166.431 cm^2 : = Makes very little difference,i.e. Still a Male Voice Booster design

I missed that, and your sims are very close to mine for the OP's original box, which I agree, is too small.
Hmm, where do you work?
GM
Hi Greg,
I've spending most of my 'Retirement' time(Since last Summer) in an Acoustics Laboratory at:
Sontech International AB
I'm acquainted with the Company Owner since more than 50 Years.
If not working practically with Speaker design:: I work(as a Consult (Electronics too))with different: Acoustic Materials and Acoustic Measurement Methods:
Regarding my own interest:
I'm focusing on finding Materials with low Flow Resistance at Low Volume Velocities (RMS= max 10 m/s)+Low Absorption Coefficients trying to find good Damping Method Metrics for my Pile of Drivers I've collected from the Sixties and up until now.
