I posted earlier - Folding light between condenser and fresnel.
Anyhow I'm a newbie building my first projector and thought I would share my findings of a new LCD panel that strips down easy - no flexi-cables to worry about, etc.
The unit is a HP Compaq 1530 15" LCD panel, heres the specs;
colour temp: Adjustable, 6500K
brightness: 250 cd/m2
contrast: 400:1
horizontal viewing angle: 130
vertical viewing angle: 100
video input: RGB and DVI
response time: 23 ms
dot pitch / pixel pitch: 0.297 mm
max resolution: 1024 x 768 / 75 Hz
colour support: 16.2 million colors
Hope this helps!

Yup, thats the one
Already stripped mine and fabricated an aluminium frame, only tested it so far on a basic OHP, excelant results. Expect massive improvement using the intended 400W MH and 5 inch triplet.
All the LCD connectors are taken via one side only, no extra flexi cables or modifcations are needed.
Also the 1530 has DVI & VGA.
