Another MEH, but with a little cardioid action...

Damping underway for the main enclosure.

Haha, none at the moment.
I had to rethink the sub enclosure for the mid drivers, it just wasn't working well.
I have also been assembling my dsp (Najda) and a 6 channel amp to run it so things slowed.
I also move next week. Don't worry it will continue.

Resurrecting this intriguing thread because I’ve been pondering ways a multientrant horn (MEH) could be combined with cardioid mid-woofers to try to extend controlled directivity into the low 100 Hz realm without a giant horn. I’d also like to have the MEH act as a point source over as wide a frequency range as possible. Beau’s approach seems like a great step in that direction. So, Beau, did you get around to measuring the results from all your impressive handiwork? How well did things match your directivity target?

I certainly understand. I have several projects in purgatory myself! That said, yours looks like a great project, with broad interest, so I'm sure I would not be the only one interested in your findings if things come together.

Time to work on the enclosure.
It's some sort of resin/stone pot that I picked up from the local hardware. The walls are only 3 or 4 mm thick but they will be reinforced in a similar way to the waveguides. Here I have dummied up the spare guide I have to see how it looks and to check on mounting ideas. Hoping to be able to mount it from the rear to avoid any visible fixings.
I like the square edge look but am not opposed to rounding it over, will see how badly it affects things when I get to measuring.View attachment 1148707

I was enjoying this thread, but in the back of my mind, I was thinking "oh boy, this speaker is almost as ugly as the stuff I make."

Then you go and do this, and make it look nice! I don't know how you got from here to here, but I am impressed!
