Another Coaxial question

I've worked in Recording Studios and live sound for 25 years as an end user. I'm really, really new to the DIY thing. Based on my experience and personal preferences almost all the nearfield monitors I like use dome tweeters. The problem is that I personally believe in the coaxial theory for time alignment. Are dome tweeters used in coaxial designs? Maybe an even better question is can they be used in a coaxial design.

Again, based on my experience and preferences I'm not a fan of horn loaded speaker designs. There are a few that I've been impressed with in Live sound applications. Most of those ( not all ) have been of a conical design.

All this is after using Urei Time Align Monitors, Tanoy, Fostec Rms 780's, Genelec, Dyn audio, MDM monitors, Meyer, EAW, JBL, Turbo Sound, Auratone, Westlake, and the list goes on.

I'm convinced that the definitive reference monitor for me has not been built yet. I know just enough to be dangerous and I'm not sure that what I want can even be built. So the first step is to find out if there is or even if there can be a coaxial design that incorporates a dome tweeter.
