Hi there and greetings from a Land Downunder
I found this wonderful site whilst searching for diy turntable info.
I thought it was about time I introduced myself. I have been into music ever since I heard the opening chords of She Loves You by the Fab Four and have never looked back.
I have just made the first change in my system in over 15 years - I pensioned off my original Pro-Ac Tablettes (much modified and far superior to those horrid Kans that everyone seemed to love) and have replaced them with a pair of.........wait for it........Linkman K9 Chinese made speakers!!!! These things must be the best value per kilo around I paid $800AUS (around 350 pounds) for them and they weigh in at 52kilos each!!! I must be mad as I bought them after a 3 minute demo of a Bee Gees live DVD in a multi speaker demo room!!! I can hear the groans of the Flat Earthers from here. They even came with a pair of massive speaker cables and white gloves to handle them with. The build quality is absolutely suberb.
What do they sound like I can hear you saying - well powered by my Magnum mono blocks for the bass and a stereo Magnum amp for the treble I can only say that these speakers are the bargain of the century!! They are fast, the treble is as smooth as silk, bass is tightly controlled and I find I can listen to CD's as well as my extensive record collection without fatigue. Has anyone else heard of the speakers??
I am now waiting to convert the pile of aluminium blocks I have into a new turntable. Naturally I will provide a post when it has been completed.
I hope I have not bored you all
Mike

Hi Mike and welcome to the forums.
Don't worry, any comments about your speakers is moot if they haven't heard them so be proud of your purchase.
If you are turning blocks into a turntable, why not take pics of the progress and post them for us?
